LV Report 4-9-06 (8 of 12)
Had a good night's sleep and felt pretty good today. Is the
cold on its way out? We'll see. I checked out of the Vegas Club,
but thought I'd try one more twenty in their progressive joker's
wild. I played a little over two hundred hands, but nothing came of
it. I drove over to Henderson via the I-515 and stopped at the
Starbucks to file yesterday's report.
It was only about 10:30 AM, but Sunset Station was able to
give me an early check in. This three day stay was a freebie, and I
was looking forward to it as Sunset has some great beds. The room
is a standard size, but decorated nicely. My viewthe maintenance
yardnot so hot, but that's okay.
I ventured down to the casino for some gaming and lost at
some four card keno, and then settled into Multi-Strike deuces. I
had some good luck here, even hitting another set of deuces.
Unfortunately, it was on the bottom line. That makes twice I've hit
deuces on a Multi-Strike machine this trip, and both times on the
bottom linebummer. However, I did manage to make a hundred on the
machine, which brought me back for the day. After this, the carnage
began.
I've read a lot about in others' trip reports about this
Super Times Video Poker. I'd never played these machines and did
want to find out what all the fuss was about. I slipped in a
hundred for the Triple Play version of deuces wild, which were
ugly. At first I did okay, but I noticed a strange thing. Every
time the extra times would appear, I'd have nothing to hold. This
happened eight or nine times during the session. Of course, the
cynical side of me thinks it's rigged to do this, but I know
better. Paying the extra coin in triple play for this bonus system
wasn't worth it to me. The bonuses just didn't come up enough
times. I did lose the whole hundred, but that's not why I'm down on
these games. It was the triple/5-play/10-play only options I didn't
care for. Perhaps, if they'd made the game in single line, I'd give
it another shot.
I then played some spin poker, which is the game I've had
some really good luck on. However, that luck didn't work out
today. So, I hit my loss limit for the day and that ended my
playing for today. I drove over to Green Valley Ranch where I was
going to meet AP, Stan and Patti, and Martin for dinner at their
buffet. Stan is a Presidential card holder there, so he picked up
the tab for all five of usthanks Stan! AP loves the lamb chops
here, but I stuck to the Caesar's salad and salmon with some peel
shrimp. The food was very good.
We said our goodbyes, and Martin followed me back to the
Sunset. He's teaching me how to play Omaha Hi-Lo poker, so we spent
a couple of hours doing that.
It was pretty much a "nothing much happened" sort of day.
When you lose your daily stake early, it makes for a short day. But
the weather has been fantastic, and I had a great time sharing
stories with friends and enjoying the day.
