Hopefully not to add to the confusion but then what sort of "accounts" do
station casinos have??
Here's the scenario.
We put in 18K into Sunset Station.
We received 18K points which can be used for purchasing items but not cash
back.
According to the host, who comped us room and food, we were comped according
to our play based on our theo of approx. $625.
We received about $200+ in comps for room and food.
So, it sounds like we didn't get any discretionary comps but all comps came
from our open comp account, right?
Do stations give our discretionary comps, if we didn't get them??
Thanks all - quite an interesting experience branching out from our
previously well understood coast casinos (where we got next to nothing
anyway...).

David,
Hopefully, I get this right. If not, I'm sure that someone else
will set me straight. <g>

An open account comp are those comps that are generated by your play
or coin-in. In LVH's case, these comps are generated at a rate of
appx. .33% . These comps dollars can be recovered at the slot club -
or, if LVH has them, any self-service kiosk. These comp dollars can
be used on anything within LVH and other PPE hotels/casinos.
Discretionary comp are those comps that are given to you (or approved
by) a slot host. These usually don't come out of your comp $
balance. A very common case of this is getting your room charges
paid for by the host.

This I may be a bit fuzzy on and may need some help.
Your comp status within LVH is based on a 4-trip averaging system...
with your play-per-3 day trip as its basis. So... if you happen to
be a $6K per day coin-in gambler... and you decide to play LVH for 1
day; you may get something for your gambling from a host. However,
since a trip is based on 3 days - your average for this trip will be
rated as $2K per day.
Hopefully that was clear enough for you...
