While we're on the subject of juicy progressives....
There was a 7/5 JB progressive here in STL at Harrahs a couple years
ago that was often VERY positive. Typical prog on RF, but also on
the SF and 4OAK. What made it positive so often was that these were
MG machines, but the 4OAK prog could only be hit when playing JB.
Here's the interesting part.....one of the machines would NOT reset
the meter. In other words you could hit prog after prog and nothing
would change on the progressives....oh how fun that was. I would
typically wander in when they first opened (Remember, this is
backwater MO that we're talking about and casinos close 5 out 7 days)
and, more often than not, the drunk ploppies had driven up the
progressive for me....I think the record quad I hit was about $120.
Harrahs finally learned of this but had trouble fixing it for some
reason. The best they were ever able to do was to get the machine to
reset the meter, but ONLY after the RF/SF/Quad was played off. In
other words, if you hit the progressive, you could leave it on the
screen and play another machine and hit the same progressive again.
There was a progressive bank at GVR that had been programed wrong
and the resets on the progressives started the game out at 101.8.
This went from the day they opened until April of the following
year. I had the honor of hitting the last progressive meter before
it reset to it's corrected new value. When I looked up at the meter
I thought to myself, "son of a gun, they finally fixed it".
Although I have no problem sharing info that is common knowledge, I
was not going to advertise this play. It was often in the 103%
range
