LV Hilton and Pick'em

I just returned from the LV Hilton, and saw a very disturbing sight. It
looks like they are starting to pull those wonderful Game Makers with
pick'em. In the spacequest bar on the far right before the curve was a
brand new Game King. Yep a Game King with TITO and a blue screen
saying "out of service" for 3 days. No games loaded yet, but this does
not look good. The bartender said they are going to put those machines
in every station. Ouch.

Say it isn't so. All LVH players, please share a moment of silence
with me.

I'll miss playing at that bar and interacting with that bizarre late
night bartender (glasses, dark hair, 50's...Terry maybe?).

The bartender that performed magic tricks?

Oh well, it looks like all the non-TITO machines are on borrowed time.
I doubt that an AA game will be inserted into the IGT machines?
Hopefully, they will start with the Game Makers in the two bars and
leave the AA Game Makers until after my summer trip. Otherwise, I
hope Binions will offer me something for my one day $10,000 through
FPJW. I did get a strange early summer offer from the Palms and I
have never heard from them since I played there some 5 years ago.

No Sam the bartender is still there, and telling his jokes. In fact the
bartenders seem to be the same. For some reason this thread has turned
to bartenders missing. It is possible that the present inventory of
pick'ems may stick around for awhile, but it looks like if the machines
need replacement parts, out they go, and in come the Game Kings. All
the AA machines are up and running.

It was there 10 days ago as well. A barback told me it was all set up but they were having troulbe getting it to work correctly - which i understood to mean it wasn't "communicating" with the slot club? Anyway, i do think the end is near.

Terry is the one. He is the guy with the jetskis and motorhomes. One day while playing there I had 3 different bartenders show me personal pictures - Terry's was of his wedding. The LVH has a rather interesting group of bartenders - they are a union shop and many have been there for over 25 years. Nick is close to drawing SS, there is another one in the sportsbook who is 75 years old - Peter I think.

In an article I wrote for Midwest Casino Guide titled "VP & ME DO
LV-PART TWO" I too ran into Sam at the Hilton and had this to say
about the guy:

"At the Hilton, we headed for the Space Quest Bar where I knew
they had some Pick'Em machines. What we didn't know was that we
would run into Sam the very friendly and talkative bartender at the
Spacequest bar. For the next two days, Sam and I got into a Don
Rickles-like, who could insult each other the most contest, in a
friendly, joking way of course. It got to be so much fun that one
morning when Sam saw me coming he stuck napkins in his ears so he
couldn't hear me. "Not fair" I yelled, " Take those damn things out
of your ears and take your medicine like any over-bearing, loud-
mouthed bartender should." But he left them in and went on serving
drinks to his customers and ignored my insults.

As for the video poker, Dolores hit for $1200 and $600 playing the
dollar machines which put her up over $2,800 for the trip so far.
And I lost a couple of hundred. Some days the beer gets you, and
some days you get the beer."

first place."

If the LVH wants to convert all their machines to TITO, they can do so,
if they really want to, without deleting AA from their vp inventory.

I was in Atlantic City two weeks ago, and played AA at the Trump Plaza.
The game was on much newer looking Gamemakers than those at the LVH.
They were TITO.

I have also played AA on TITO Gamemakers at the President in STL,
Harrahs KC and Harrahs Topeka. While there were problems with the
platform for quite a while, it looks like the issue has been resolved.

At this time, AA cannot be put onto an IGT machine because the game is
proprietary to Ballys. Maybe they'll do a deal. Oh, one can always
dream.

Or, the casino can continue to have machines from both manufacturers on
their floor. What's wrong with that?
