When I stayed at Caesars in April that completely drained my account for 64,000 pts for (4) nts. There were some errors with my reservation and that may have been a factor. I spoke with a host and he told me that it was the policy in LV at all Harrahsa properties to use reward credits earned during a stay for the room regardless of the offer. I told him that was not the case since we had just stayed at the Rio and they didn't use any points.
After some back and forth for a few minutes with the host saying there was nothing he could do, he called the front desk to get the charge for the room reduced whichy he said might refund some of the points to my account.
I left his office, checked my account and all 64,000 pts were back. I went to the front desk and checked out using 60.000 pts for meals etc..
The bottom line is that I am hesitant to stay at Caesars again if they will be charging pts for the room. Can any share their experience in the last few months?

Having never stayed at a Harrah's property, but played some each trip
at Caesars (before conversion to TR), I thought I'd give this a try
just to see what came up. As you say, I was pleasantly surprised. My
question is, if you receive a comp up front through the reservation
system, is your point balance affected in anyway or are there strings
attached (other than an expected level of play to keep the offers
coming)? Thanks.

So what you get for a code (COMP, RFB, LFB) or a discounted rate? No one so
far has been hit for a free room from your banked Reward Credits. But if you
get RFB/LFB they do drain your banked credits for food, then cover the rest.
The strategy proposed by others is to burn up your banked Reward Credits on
Visa Debit cards, the gift catalog, gift shop or any other way before eating
when RFB/LFB.
The room comp has not had any strings attached. I and others have totally
blown-off southern Nevada HET outlets on a COMP code offer. Personally, I
believe no-play is better than little-play days.
