LV Club Scratch Cards

I spent the afternoon at the Las Vegas Club...had a 2x point
coupon...not the best play in the world, but I wanted to see how the
scratch card (SC)promo was. All pays of 100 coins or more on $.25 and
up denominations got one card.

Started with the $1 10/7 DB. The first four of a kind came quickly
and so did the attendant with the SC. OK, things were looking up. The
next four of a kind came about 10 minutes later and so did the
attendant...about 10 minutes after I put on the change light. Little
did I know that was really fast in comparison to future SC's.

After the next one took 15 minutes, I decided to go over to the $.50
FP Joker (4000)...it had a 10/7 $.50 DB right next to it, so at least
I could continue playing while I was waiting. Glad that I did...the
next SC took 20 minutes and then I stopped timing them. Needless to
say, a promotion that is supposed to give the player warm, fuzzy
thoughts about the casino, wasn't meeting its objective.

All together I got eleven SC's...none of them for cash. What I did
get was:

Complimentary Room (1)
Dinner at Upper Deck (1)
Dinner at Great Moments Room (1)
Scoop of Ice Cream (2)
T-Shirt (1)
Beach Towel (1)
Suprise Gift (2) cheap binoculars
50% off Sports Memorabilia (2) does this mean I get 100% off?

And 26 entries into the August 24th drawing...where top prize is
$10,000 if present, $5,000 if you're not and 5 $1,000 prizes, $500 if
not present.

The double points adds .4% to the return, but I don't think I'll go
back. There are better plays.

I tried this about a week ago.

My experience was similar.

I did find that I usually did not have to wait more
than 2-3 minutes for a scratch card. However, I
never got any cash. Playing the 0.50 joker got me
lots of cards, but not much useful for a local.

However, the out of town player can get free
rooms quite easily with this promo. I don't
know if they can be applied to a current stay
or if you must reserve in advance.

Don't these marketing morons understand that running
a promo that offers CASH should have a significant
chance of actually paying cash. This nonsense
just pisses people off. Exactly the opposite
of what a promotion is supposed to do.

Interesting. Don't you think the tourists who compromise most of the

business would be far happier with a free room night or a nice dinner
than a few dollars on a scratch card?

Possibly, but that is another issue altogether.
My point is that when a promotion lists cash as one of the
prizes, then there should be a reasonably good chance that
you will get cash. It is clear that the LVC thinks that
cash makes the scratch cards more appealing, otherwise they
would not even bother to mention that cash prizes are
available. When a customer gets many scratch cards with
no cash, he feels like he has been the victim of a bait
and switch type scam. My point here is that is better to
offer NO cash than to pull this kind of crap. The fact that
some players may be happy with some of the cards is
irrelevent.

Agreed. I am not a local and after 45+ cards even I was getting irritated
with no cash. I never did receive any. I can only eat so much and was sick
of surprise gifts and 50% off sports memorabilia. (What is with this one
anyhow? That has got to be the worst!)

Just for thought, how many is "many?" If there are, for example, 50

possible prizes and one of them is cash and there are tens of thousands
of cards printed, how is that unfair? How do you know you "sampled"
enough? At least a few list members have reported getting cash scratch
cards.

I think I got about 25 scratch cards. It is possible that I
was simply very unlucky, but with that many samples, it is
very likely (from statistics) that the frequency of cards that
pay cash is 1 in 20 or worse. Sorry, but I don't remember the
math required to give more exact numbers.

If the promotion included information about the chances of
getting a cash prize, I would have no complaint.
