LVA Lite Subscriber,

Since June 2002, we've sent our weekly LVA Lite e-letter to thousands
of readers. We've used LVAL to convey breaking news, announce new
products and product discounts, and update changes occurring between
issues of the Las Vegas Advisor.

Unfortunately, we're now running into severe problems getting the e-
mail to readers due to the proliferation of Internet spam filters.
Despite the fact that this is an opt-in/opt-out e-mail that many
readers look forward to each week, our e-mails are now being blocked
frequently by large groups such as Hotmail, AOL, and Comcast.

As a result, we've decided to suspend the regular delivery of LVAL
while we evaluate the situation. We'll continue to send timely
notifications about our products or good deals we come across, but they
won't be posted in regular weekly transmissions or in a static format.

This is a sad sign of the times.

I blame the spammers first, but then the companies selling the antispam software. They sell or give userd these tools with little or no advice on how to use them. As a result, I also have now had to stop sending Video Poker Player by email and make it available by direct download only. My advice to everyone:

- Find out exactly how your spam protection works.

- Never use any preset filters that look for key words or caps (I found that many new subscribers - hotmail I think is one culpit) were not getting my "welcome to vphomepage" messages until I changed the subject from all caps.

- If you have a button to click that identifies messages in your inbox as spam, be careful. It's not that hard to click the wrong note and identify a legitimate correspondent as a spammer.

-Check the folder your spam gets sent to to every so often to make sure no legitmate sender got caught.

-If you have an option to "whitelist" everyone it's a good idea, but if you do, make sure you don't add spammers by replying to them.

I hate spam as much as anyone, but I'd rather get 10 spams than accidentally delete one legitimate (and possibly important) note.
