I went down to Luxor toady to redeem some free play. I still can't
figure out how I get free play from them since I play at Circus
Circus. Anyway, I try to use my old One Club Card and it doesn't work
anymore. Off to the new MGM players club (located next to Starbucks).
The rep gives me a new card and instructs me that my free play will
ONLY work in Konami machines, NOT IGT or any other machines. I said
what's up with that and she told me that last week the free play had
only worked in a total of 3 machines on the whole floor (again
Konami). What a load of BS. Lo' and behold I tried multiple
manufacturers and the only one that would work were the Konami
machines. Konami only has video reel slots, not VP. I'm guessing that
when I redeem my free play the rest of the month, it will probably be
the same. I would not be surprised if I never see anymore free play
from Luxor again.
Luxor crappola...

Speaking of Konami, does anyone remember the more than FPDW at Harrah's
around five or six years ago? When we were still tourists to Vegas in
either '00 or early '01, strolled into the carnival side entrance to
Harrah's, snd spotted a four machine bank right off the aisle, called Konami
Simply Poker. I did a double, then triple take while looking at the
paytable and verified that it was FPDW but with 50 instead of 45coin paayoff
for a straight flush. The wife and I sat down and immediately began to play
and I only made two gut feeling changes to our play. With one deuce, we
would hold
4 STFL i over made trips and also over a made straight. I checked Winpoker
when we got back to our room to find out that both of these holds were
correct with the extra coin pop on the STFL. Also determined that the ER
was @ 101.2%. The next day after hitting my second royal, got to talking
with the change person while getting the hand pay and found out that this
was some kind of 30 day floor test of this game at Harrah's for this new
licensee, Konami. I had never seen or heard the name before, but sure was
hopeful that the game survived. A few months later on our next trip out
here, I had it on the back burner of my brain to look for this at every
casino that we stopped in. Never saw it again. Strangely, according to a
slot person at Harrah's, the game never made it to the floor permanently,
because of lack of play. Go figure. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else
played them while they were at Harrah's and if they have seen any Konami VP
of any kind anywhere in the valley. A great five day run, between the two
of us, four royals and 16 sets of deuces. Just another dim memory of
yesteryear.

Konami is a very well known company in the video game industry. I am
a big fan of their Suikoden series. Bob Dancer did an article
on "Time Bomb" poker in Strictly Slots or Casino Player several
years ago but I never saw that game in a casino.
