I thought all machines were random? So what's the difference if you stay or move, recite the Gettysburg Address or jump up and down for 3 minutes?
The silly stall tactic might work well in parking lots when 'lurkers' follow you around trying to get a spot 4 feet closer to the door, but irritating casino lurkers usually roam around with no clear goal, and may just out-smart and out-last your tactic.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with "moving as the best option". If
I'm playing on a machine that's been really good to me (keeps hitting
a lot of quads, fullhouses, etc.), I don't see a good reason for me
to move or change to another machine.
Looks silly but works effectively for me is --- temporarily stop
play, look at my watch, look left, look right a few times, hold card
#1, unhold card #1, repeat a few times in slow motion and --- there
they go!
