I'm surprised so many are affected by what others stroll by and do or say or stare at when they're playing. You don't want to chat or like what they're saying? Tell 'em to shut up, and if a verbal rukus occurs call security immediately. The player always gets the decision. Plus, if you have a problem of some sort with others walking by and watching you play, you're an easily distracted player and really do not have the concentration required to play the game at the level you need to in order to be a winner over time. Be realistic also. You're in the most public of places, one where even a terrorist with explosives strapped under their shirt could easily get into. Don't forget, you always have the option of moving, and most of the time I've found that to be the best option.

protect my bankroll in a non-obvious way and continue. They can't
effect any change in how the machine pays. Personally, I ask if
someone minds me watching the 50/100, Multiline MultiStrike, ... If
they say no, I walk on. Most don't say no. They are there to have fun.
The ones I hate are the credit watchers. I actually blew up at one
this weekend. I wish the Indians would allow walkmans so I could keep
from hearing these stupid coments. "Gee, you are doing well. You have
800 credits." It was a nickle machine, and I started with
$100(actually my second $100). I blew up and said something like,
"How the hell do you know how I am doing, DumbKopf." The lady sitting
next to me says, "Well most of us just put $20 in at a time and play 1
nickle on keno on superslow speed." I just glare at all of them and
them stalk off to the bathroom(3 steps) and then go get coffee.
