There's a whole lot to be said for being comfortable at a machine, and I agree it's a great reason for not wanting to move. But as most things in life, you have to weigh it against whatever occurs that's also uncomfortable, in this case, the PITA lurker. Which is more important?
The problem with not getting up and moving to another similar machine is the exact converse of how you pointed out why you aren't likely to choose to do it. Given that you're in a casino or gaming venue where all machines are random, you just may shift over to one that will pay better than your comfy one. Or, at that moment in time your machine may very well stop hitting for hours. So I think approaching the problem from this point of view is neither here nor there.
My experience staying at a machine with a lurker is that it's better to verbally assault than to turn around and stare. Aggressive behaviour usually chases casino-goers who aren't playing, and lurkers are mostly wimps.

Let's assume that it's a given fact that all VP in regulated
gambling venues (EXCLUDING non-regulated Indian Casinos) in NV, NJ
etc. is totally random.
How does that impact on the fact that I'm comfortably seated, at the
vp machine of my choice, and having reasonable "good luck" (or if
you prefer, am playing on the "right side of randomness", or on
the "positive side of the bell curve") in filling flushes/full
houses/quads etc. and don't want to leave my machine? Why should I
leave under those circumstances? Perhaps the next machine, around
the corner, will not treat my bankroll as well, at that given moment
in time, DESPITE being random.
My take on this particular, very common occurance/annoyance, is to
ignore the person for as long as their actions/conversation remain
tolerable. After that, I POLITELY ask them to cease and desist from
1. "sweating" my play 2. talking to me, as it breaks my
concentration (though it really doesn't). 3. commenting loudly on
how "lucky" I am, or "what I should have held".
If this does not cause the creep to move away, and he/she continues
to annoy me me, I will call a slot attendant to intervene, and, if
necessary, call security.
I will also immediately call security if there is the slightest
threat to my person or bankroll, or if someone directs foul language
at me.
Under no circumstances will I allow myself to be driven off a
machine before I am ready to leave.
Just my opinion, of course.

The silly stall tactic might work well in parking lots
when 'lurkers' follow you around trying to get a spot 4 feet closer
to the door, but irritating casino lurkers usually roam around with
no clear goal, and may just out-smart and out-last your tactic.
