Luck is the cards you get on the initial deal, Skill is what you choose to do with those cards.

Gee, I feel you might have left off one more element of luck: the
cards that come in on the draw after your skillful hold. This step
is what gets our adrenaline rushing, as it presages the all-important
Payoff.
I say, at most, skill is 25% of the process. True, the hold is the
only step in the "Playing the hand" part of the process that we
players actually participate in.
My swag is that the luck of the deal is 50%, skill of the hold 25%
and Luck of the Draw 25%. Luck total- 75% skill 25%. Maybe we are on
the same family tree as slot players, maybe one branch up. <grin>
There is of course, a huge process that we all spend a lot of time
doing, and writing about here, that is before and even after
the "Play-the-hand" part of the overall VP gaming process. Things
such as choosing a game to play, choosing your surroundings, choosing
a casino with nice benefits and bankroll management. There are a lot
more obviously.
Hmmm, could be an interesting separate thread? or Poll. SOmething to
cogitate...
