Up until two weeks ago, I was averaging somewhere around 1.5 Bonus
Rewards for every Base Reward earned at Harrahs. The last four times
I've been the ratio has dropped dramatically--0.9, 0.2, 0.6 and 0.3
Bonus Rewards for every Base Reward. All I play is quarter All
American VP. I'm wondering if everyone is experiencing this or what
the deal is. If you haven't noticed a drop, do you play quarter AA?
Ultimately, as long as they keep full pay AA I'll play it, but the
sudden drop in Rewards is disappointing.
Also, has anyone used their rewards for dinner at the Range? On
their Reward menu, it states "dinner for two at the Range for 7000
points." Today I got a coupon from them saying you can get a 25%
discount at the range when using comps. So is the 7000 points a
certain dollar usage, like $70?
Anyone's info on these subjects would be greatly appreciated.
Lower Reward credits at Harrahs
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the Reward credits. My wife and I play side by side on the same machines, same game, same amount of time, and we get widely different results. You can ask the slot or promotions personnel and they don't have a clue. You may have just hit a bad day or two. The last time we played there (Thursday) I got almost as many Reward credits as Base points, about 1 to 1. Who knows what we will get next time.
Haven't tried the discounts at the restaurants yet.

You may be on to something, but I'm not sure I have enough data to tell.
Here are my last four sessions at Harrah's (3 at KC, 1 at Prairie Band):
Date Loc #Hands BonPts BasPts Ratio
2/6 KC 1744 347 218 1.59
2/11 PB 1966 703 246 2.86
2/14 KC 1463 899 183 4.91
2/19 KC 2152 125 270 0.46
NOTE: Does not include BonPts added due to multiplier coupons.
Obviously, that last one is quite a drop-off. However, that was also a
winning session, where I nearly tripled my credits over 2 1/2 hours. The
other sessions on the list were losing sessions. Whether that really makes
a difference in BonPts, I'm not sure yet.
I've added a column to my spreadsheet to calculate the Bonus-to-Base ratio.
I'll let you know how it goes.
As for your other question, you are correct saying 7000 Bonus RC's = $70 in
available comps or gift shop purchases. The Rewards Menu plus the current
25% discount for using your Rewards Credits would seem to imply dinner for
two at The Range will only cost 7000 x .75 = 5250 points = $52.50. However,
my question is, what does "Dinner for Two at The Range" mean? Is there some
standard meal you're supposed to order? The Rewards Menu doesn't give any
details.

Thanks to both of you for your responses. I'm not sure why Harrah's
insists on having everyone, including their employees, in the dark
about reward calculations. My guess is it's so convoluted they're
embarrassed to give any info about it.
Well, I had been on a great winning streak over the last 20,000 hands
(2 Royals), so maybe this lowered my bonus rewards? Who knows? This
streak is specifically why I asked...because I've heard many people
guess that winning hurts your comps. If that is the case, I can see
why Harrahs would try to hide it. "You're a winner? Well, then,
we're not going to give you so much!"
Two more questions...do you have a casino host you deal with? And,
Carlos, how is Prairie Band? I've heard other people give
out "warnings" because it's supposedly not required to play by the
same rules.
Thanks again!

If they're not embarassed they should be. It actually would be pretty
straightforward if it wasn't for the screwy "mystery bonus points"
situation.
As for your last 2 questions....
Hosts: I've had very little interaction with casino hosts. My level of
play gets me free food & drink and the occasional free hotel room and that's
about all I care about. Sorry, I don't know who to ask for at Harrah's.
Prairie Band: Harrah's Prairie Band isn't for everyone. First of all,
there's the 90 mile drive each way from KC. (I happen to find long drives
with the CD player full of tunes very relaxing, so I don't mind.) Also,
it's a small casino with the usual limitations that brings (e.g., buffet is
good, but doesn't have a lot of selection). But please don't put this
casino in the same category as other Indian casinos. This one is a
full-fledged member of the Harrah's chain, and at least APPEARS TO ME to be
run legitimately. It doesn't have the strange "off-brand" slot/VP machines
you find in other Indian casinos. The machines are the same ones (IGT,
Ballys, etc.) you find in Las Vegas which presumably means they can't be
tampered with. Prairie Band also has the same silly promotions & contests
other Harrah's casinos have. The staff is very friendly and the customer
service excellent. They are currently undergoing renovation and new
construction. The hotel is being tripled in size and they're adding a steak
house** amongst other things.

**WOO HOO! Lord knows you can't find a decent steak in Kansas City. Just
kidding.

Nancy Johnson is my host at Harrahs KC. She's the best host I've
dealt with at ANY casino. VERY responsive and always gets back to me
within a couple hours whether I contact her via email or telephone.
For about $8K per day, she always puts us up in a suite when we come
to town.
