lost/stolen cell phone

I did contact security at the Stardust immediately. I checked backed back 3 more times over 5 days. I'm pretty sure the person took the phone with the intention of selling it or using the service. When my wife called the number 30 minutes after it disappeared, she could tell by the background noise that he wasn't inside the casino anymore.

So, this person stole a phone he doesn't know how to use. The service was cancelled 10 minutes after it disappeared and he didn't make a single call with it. My guess is he got frustrated and tossed it in a trash can.

Hopefully you also reported your "lost" cell to security. STuff like

this

is lost and also turned in all the time. Once service is suspended

(which you

can do pretty quickly) these are not useful. It could quickly show

up at

lost & found.

I believe there is some sort of racket where the criminals reprogram
the enabling chips on cell phones so that they become live again and
use them to sell internatinal long distance phone calls, especially
to immigrants. As soon as the phone company catches on to one bit of
coding they wipe that one and reprogram again. Thus there is a steady
demand in the black market for stolem phones although, because so
many are stolen, I think the price is only like $5.
