lost of a royal

I lost a royal in Vegas in November when I had a held card flip as
you described but I didn't think there was anything I could do since
the tech said that there was no camera on the machine to prove my
case and that I was just out of luck. I hope it never happens again
but how does or should one make their dispute when I have not
evidence?

The tech was either uniformed or was untruthful.
All video poker machines store a certain amount of previously played hands. These hand can be displayed one hand at time starting with
the last hand played. The original dealt hand and final hand are displayed simultaneously on the screen.

With the discussion of sticky buttons and lost held cards, etc, I've
had another thought. I know the computers themselves sometimes have a
problem… my favorite machine rite now has one progressive that
doesn't reset when hit. Unfortunately it also doesn't advance beyond
the # it shows. Also unfortuately it's only a coupla bucks.

The machines I normally play (25c) show the payout in #'s rather than
actual cash. These can't be changed back & forth like some. When I
cash out, sometimes I'm on a number like 10437...Ok, OK, it's more like
437, but hey, it's my story. Anyway, I don't always pay very close
attention to making sure that the 437 TITO actuals prints out as
$109.25. I will start however. What I'm curious about is has anyone
ever ran into a situation that the two didn't match, altho I suppose it
cud just as easily give U more than U had coming.

Yes, it's quite common. Also, sometimes a mistake is made in handpays
when the attendant doesn't convert credits to dollars correctly,
especially if you don't tip.

How common is it? Where or who has encountered it. I have never had
it happen to me.

a) I dont believe I have ever had a ticket print out incorrectly, out
of most likely thousands of tickets. What about others in this group?

b) each time I have ever seen a 'Handpay' on a machine (hundreds), it
displays the $xxx.xx amount, how could the slot person get this wrong.
Also if they did, there would be a record and the casino would
eventually catch it because audit numbers would be off for that
machine. I cant imagine this situation happening, except rarely.

I have only seen one error involving a floor person. There was a couple playing an older JP machine in $ @ less than max coins.(Atlantic City) They hit a royal on a 2 coin bet for a hand pay of 1K. (No TITO on this machine) The floor person came to pay the hand pay and must not have turned the key far enough when resetting the machine. It unlocked the machine bur did not run off the 1K in credits. The couple flipped the floor person a twenty and off he went with 1100+ credits showing on the machine. They played for another 30 minutes and cashed out for another 1000 coin hand pay. The floor person came over, muttered something along the lines of "must be your lucky day" and processed the pay out. This was about 6 years ago, those machines are long gone and I am still envious...LOL.
