loss of a royal

I wont name the casino at this time because the out come has not been
determind as of this time. I was dealt a flush 4 cards to aroyal. I
held the 4 cards and hit the play button .The ace came up and gave me
the royal but the card next to jumped and gave me an 8 of clubs. This
has happened to anyone else what was the outcome. I was told to file a
complaint with the gamming board which I did.

Not on a royal, but I have had a card unhold itself and then get a new
on dealt in its place on many occasions. Usually it is only a few
credits lost if any, but I always worry about it happening when holding
for a royal.

I was told that they could look back and see what was dealt. Whether
they can verify a first hold or not, I do not know, but if it was a
royal type card, common sense and fairness would dictate that they
honor it as held. HOWEVER, who says life is fair.

This situation just happened to me for the 2nd time in my playing
history. The first time was at my home HET casino several years ago
and I held 3 8s and got the 4th one and also found one of the first
ones missing. I stopped playing, turned on the service light and
waited. I explained the situation to the slot person, who got a tech
and a sup and they easily verified the original 3 8s and paid me the
difference ( I think only $80) and merrily we went along our ways.
Episode #2 was just a few days ago at another HET casino that I had
never played at before and they didnt know me and it was on a $5
machine. I held 3 6s and got the 4th one and one of the originals was
missing just like in sit. #1. This time it was a difference of $400
because I did get a full house instead of a quad. All the same people
did the same checks and they even checked surveillance, it took quite
some time partially because another $5 player hit a RF during the same
period, but they did pay me the $400 without a fight. I was quite
pleased with this, because I have heard too many stories of this
happening and they say 'you should be more careful' or 'too bad, so
sad'. I am a 7* with a high theo and a 300k tier score, but none of
that was brought up. Every once in a while HET does get it right.

This has happened to me 3 times and each time a slot tech and a manager went back to varify the hand and the holds and in each case I got paid.

I lost a royal in Vegas in November when I had a held card flip as
you described but I didn't think there was anything I could do since
the tech said that there was no camera on the machine to prove my
case and that I was just out of luck. I hope it never happens again
but how does or should one make their dispute when I have not
evidence?

Take a cell phone photo before you draw. Otherwise, after the fact,
get the tech to display the hand history (it will show the dealt and
drawn hand) and take a photo of that. Record the machine number, date
and time and take names and request that evidence be preserved. If the
casino doesn't buy it, call gaming immediately. In NV, the casino is
required to contact gaming immediately for amounts of $500 or over,
but they are often in violation of this law (the fine must be a slap
on the wrist). If the gaming agent rules against you, you have the
right to a review board. If the review board rules against you, you
need a lawyer to go further. Read Nersesian's "Beat the Players" for
details.

Can they tell what you held orginally. or just what was dealt. I was
under the impression only what was dealt?
