I have belonged to this forum for some time, and haven't posted
(like I should). As has been previously pointed out, when you don't
live in Vegas, there's not a lot of substance that you can provide
to fellow forum members. I do want to express my appreciation to
those of you natives who continue to keep us informed.
I live close to Kansas City, and do most of my gambling at the
Harrah's in North Kansas City. I know that many here consider that
an unpardonable sin. However, they continue to have a good
inventory of 9/6 JOB (and the all-American that most prefer). I
know the comps don't rise to the level they should, but as a Diamond
player, I do OK. The best part is that my play here earns me
freebies at the Rio.
I have been receiving some offers from MGM/Mirage. I have stayed
twice at the MGM Grand, and between my wife and I, we usually put
through about $30,000 in a three-day stay. Several times, I have
put through a decent amount of money trying to get offers from TI,
but oddly enough, have been unsuccessful. Imagine the shock on my
face when I open a mailing from the Mirage which offers me three
free nights and $40 in free play. I have never stayed there, and
the amount of money I have put through machines there wouldn't buy
you a full meal at Krispy Kreme. Has the loss of Siegfried and Roy
hurt them that badly? I know it's a video poker wasteland, but I
have accepted the invitation and booked the reservation. I would be
willing to give them some play on 8/5 Bonus Poker and take a beating
just to be able to stay there (I still think it's one of the
prettiest casinos in Vegas). I know they don't have any 9/6, and
the rating on VPHomepage is dated enough that I don't think I can
rely on it. Does anyone know if there is 8/5 Bonus Poker
available? More importantly, if my suspicion that their business is
down due to the loss of Siegfried and Roy is correct, what minimum
amount of play would one have to suffer through to stay on their
mailing list? Any help the group can give me would be greatly
appreciated. In return, anyone needing information on the Harrah's
in KC or, more importantly, the chances of the Kansas Jayhawks in
the NCAA tournament, can feel free to contact me. Thanks for your
help.
