I agree completely.
I have no problem if it's a bank of ten machines, and several are not being
played. However, locking up machines when there are no more of that type
available, and others wish to play, is upsetting to the other players, and not
profitable for the casino. The casinos should not allow more than fifteen
minutes of cap time on machines that are clearly in high demand. And under those
circumstances, they should certainly not allow one person to play two
machines. And this includes one person playing one machine, while "holding" the
adjacent machine by piling stuff on the seat!
Unfortunately, casinos rarely see things this way. Even those which put
stickers on the machines saying, "One machine per person during peak hours," or
somesuch, usually don't enforce the "rule."
One final note. If I walk into a casino and find all the machines I wish to
play are occupied, I will first say "hi" to those players I know. If one of
them volunteers that he/she will be quitting soon (and I do not ask!), I might
wait for a few minutes. Otherwise, I just leave and go somewhere else. There
is no shortage of decent plays in LV!
My recommendation is, just relax and go with the flow. There is enough s
tress in our lives without getting upset that you can't get on a particular
machine.

I don't believe a machine should be held for anyone except for a brief
