A few years ago at the Reno Hilton I found a bank of six $5 progressives that
were all locked up. I asked an attendant to open them up & see when they were
locked up. When they opened the first they found the card of a high roller.
The next five also had the cards of high rollers in them. By this time a
supervisor had arrived & she noted that the cards on four of the machines belonged
to one person & the other two card belonged to a husband and wife. The result
was a change in policy where only one machine per person was permitted to be
locked up regardless of who you were.
Another time at the old Harveys in Lake Tahoe, a machine had been locked up
for a couple of days before I finally asked to have it opened so that I could
play it in the belief that it had exceeded the time limit. They opened it up &
found that it had indeed well exceeded the time limit but they couldn't let me
have it since it had been locked up by a high roller. I asked for a
supervisor, registered my complaint in an objective manner whereupon he agreed with me
but orders from on high tied his hands. I thanked him & then went higher. It
turns out the person locking up machines for days had a habit of doing this to
freeze out other advantage players. Eventually this special treatment was
changed and he was booted from the casino. Don't know if my complaint had any
direct effect but I believe that it helped to put a magnifying glass on an abusive
situation.
I encourage others to put light on the subject when they find something
wrong.

"Sorry", said the Host, and she walked away. I was dumbfounded.
I couldn't believe it. A woman playing a couple machines away then
told me she had been playing there last night and knew the woman who
had the machine closed to be a high roller that usually played the $5
machines. Then I understood what had happened, but I still felt
slighted and wasn't happy about it. Anyway, I thought about hanging
around and giving the woman a piece of my mind when she arrived, but
my better sense told me that that would do nobody any good, and so I
decided to collect my cash back and head home.
