Different casinos have different offerings. Here are a few
Palms - locals monthly mailers with free play and food; out-of-towners
(I'll call them Ls and Os from now on) get free play plus sometimes rooms; so
the locals don't get the free rooms.
Venetian - everyone gets tournament offers with free rooms. Ls also get
weekly free play mailers if play is high enough.
LV Hilton - Ls get some free cash, but not nearly as much as Os. You
are better off to be an O unless you are a small player. Ls sometimes get
phone calls for free shows too. Ls get a sticker for 25% off food. Os with a
local address too can get the sticker and use their out of town address for
mailer.
Harrahs - all places including Paris, Rio, etc. Os get far superior
offers for free tournaments, shopping sprees, shows, etc. Ls who play get
mailers for extra cash with certain amounts of free play. O is better than L.
Coast casinos - Ls get monthly mailers depending on play with food, free
play. Os don't get this but sometimes get a separate offer for free play and
rooms.
Wynn - Ls get free play depending on level of play based on 3 month
average; Os get offers for tournaments, room, and sometimes a little free play.
If you play a lot you are better off with being a L.
Planet Hollywood - makes no difference if you are L or O.
Plaza downtown - seems to make no difference
If you have 2 residences, for example you are a "Vegas snowbird" and have
the ability of getting mail in either place, you can choose your address for
each place. If you actually are staying in only one place and can't get mail
forwarded promptly, then you are stuck with wherever you are. If mail isn't
forwarded promptly, then you may miss out on offers because they are
time-related.
