Locals Favorite Casinos

My husband and I just moved to LV and are trying to figure out which
casinos we want to play at the most. In the past we played in Reno,
mostly at the Atlantis and the Peppermill. We were from out-of-state
and got very generous offers for free rooms, dinner comps, free play,
etc. We were very pleased with what we were being offered and never
spent time trying to understand all the intricacies of comp
programs.

But moving to LV has changed everything. I understand things are
different both in LV compared to Reno, and when you're a local
instead of a visitor. I would assume cashback and food comps are the
priority for most local VP players when they choose where to play.
However, I'm a little confused about the picks listed for "locals
favorites." I've been digging through the database trying to find
the casinos with the best comps and best machines. I can see that
the full-pay inventory at Fiesta Henderson and the Palms is pretty
good, but neither offer cashback. Is there something I'm missing?
Or is this just an out-of-date listing?

Any insight into this would be appreciated. Also websites that would
help educate me about comps and calculations would also be helpful.
Thanks for your help!

Susan

I don't know what you play or what denoms, so I'll give it a whirl
here. A lot of this is what you're looking for. Stations and Palms
give bounceback.

Northwest: Cannery, Santa Fe Station, Rampart, Red Rock. Cannery
stands out in particular.

South/Southeast: Fiesta Henderson, Rainbow (Henderson), South Coast.

I just got done writing an article about Palms and Red Rock on my
website, paladingaming.net. To sum it up, RR has some good offerings
for lower denom players in a first class, or, in other words,
un-Stationsesque, atmosphere. Palms has slipped some and I wonder if
senior management there has gotten a little too caught up with
themselves and forgotten their roots a little (this weekend's high end
promo notwithstanding).

Thanks for the info. We're in Henderson, but don't mind driving
around the area to check out different places. RR is far away, but
what I've been hearing sounds like it's worth the drive.

I wasn't sure what bouncback was before. After a little reading, I
see that it really is cashback...just not available all the time and
how much you get isn't spelled out ahead of time. That helps a lot.
I'm such a n00b!

Thanks.

Let us know :

1.what games you have been playing

Mostly FPDW, 25c to $1. We've been starting to learn JoB and DB which
are easier to find $1 and up.

2. the demomination you have been playing

See above.

3. what part of town you are living in

SE Henderson, but have car will travel.

4. general bankroll size in thousands

greater than $10K

5. what kind of hit you are willing to take per session (be truthful)

We're pretty desensitized to fluxuations. We've seen some doozies, but
it's all statistics.

10K FPDW henderson sounds like you want to do the stations or
fiesta. perhaps take some shots at some of the better $.5 and $1
games at the rainbow club. also Arizona Charlies east might have
something good with daily free money cash coupons.

any way thats a place to start

Thanks for the advice everyone. Gives us some great direction for
starting out so we can begin getting mailers/promos for the good
players clubs.

#1 on your starting list should be South Coast. Make sure to give them
your first 10k per month of coin-in.

Join up at GVR/Sunset Station, Fiesta Henderson and Sam's Town.

I am from out of town, but I will comment on this thread
anyway, because I visit the Vegas Valley every week or
every other week and I positively prefer locals casinos to
strip or downtown casinos.

Red Rock is NOT worth driving to from Henderson. I stayed
there for two nights last weekend (on the comp offer that
everyone got). I would rather stay at play at Sunset Station.

Red Rock is nice looking. But, that's all it's got.

I encountered a lot of problems last weekend at Red Rock.
Some of them are just because the place is new and they
have bugs to work out. After playing in the casino until 3am,
construction noise, from the floor above, woke me at 8:15am.
After I complained, they moved me to a new room - far away
from the noise. Their turn town service (which is included
in the many services that the required $19.99 additional per-
night charge covers) is supposed to include filling the ice
bucket. On the first day, my room was the farthest room
from the ice machine (it's a VERY long walk from one end to
the other), so I called housekeeping to confirm that they would
put ice into my bucket during the turn-down service. Of course,
I got to the room at 3am and there was no ice. I called their
'customer service' help line, and had ice delivered to my room
immediately at no charge. The next night, in a new room on a
different floor, I had no ice again. I called customer service
and complained. But, this time, my room was close to the
ice machine, so I got it myself. Why is it so difficult to get a
maid to do something she's supposed to do? Maybe, the
maids are lazy and they don't think anyone will complain?
They didn't even empty the waste baskets during turn-down
service. All of this is very low-class for such a high-class
establishment.

(There were several other problems with the hotel. But,
this post would be way too long if I wrote about all of them.)

Problems in the casino were because of the clientele and
the employees (not because of the game inventory).

For such a nice, upscale establishment, it amazed me how
many rude, trashy, low-class people were there. Red Rock
has high-back chairs at all of their machines. This causes
customers and employees to bump into them while walking
through the isles. All throughout the weekend, my chair was
repeatedly bumped and NOT ONE person said, "excuse me"
or "I'm sorry." Like I said: low-class scum.

Most of the employees were either rude or ignorant. When
I asked questions, it seemed like no one knew the answer
nor knew how to get the answer.

My experience at the Spa was no better. I spent 15 minutes
just checking into the Spa because they couldn't figure out
how to use the computer (to charge to my room). Eventually,
I got anxious and impatient and I just said, "Look....I've got
to get to my massage. You guys will just have to let me in
and figure the billing out on your own time." Then, they let me
in. The massage in the Spa was over-priced ($168, including
the mandatory tip) and it wasn't even a good massage! I have
had MANY massages in MANY of the Vegas spas. (For my
money, the best massages are at the Flamingo Spa.) The
Spa at Red Rock is nice, but it also has bugs to work out.
(like, knobs in some of the showers that didn't work right -
causing the temperature to be only hot and very hot.)
The only good thing about my Spa experience was the very
attentive attendants.

I will probably go back to Red Rock, since they sent the
postcard with many free nights during the summer. But, I will
never PAY for a room there. It's just not worth it.

If I lived in the area, I would still go there. It's not terrible.
I just wouldn't drive across town to get there!

best free play/cash back from henderson playing fpdw@25c has got

to

be casino montelago at lake las vegas...

I dont belive this is the case. Certainly its a strong play as far

as quarter fpdw goes, but its gotten worse. Theyve slowed the
machines with fpdw to a crawl, its quite a drive to get the place,
and they've cut back the 5x pts. days to just Sunday's. I beleive
the Fiesta Henderson, Rainbow Club and the El Dorado (see LV index-
summary section of this site 4 details)are just as good a play for
the Henderson area 0.25 deuce player. Personally still perfer Sam's
Town on 6x pt days if I feel like playing slow fpdw with a point
promo.
