I have suggested that casinos that offer X amount in bounce back to a certain
level of local player (broken up into perhaps 3-6 "checks" each month) send
that same total amount to the same play-level visitor. But instead of lots of
small checks, just send one check for the total amount, let it be good for an
entire month, and require a minimum hotel stay in order to cash it. Finally, it
should be mailed out at least a month in advance (more would be better!), to
allow for trip planning.
One possible downside to this would be that a few people would get rooms at
several
hotels at the same time, in order to cash the checks--figuring that they play
at a high enough level that the rooms will be comped anyway. Maybe instead of
the hotel stay requirement, cashing the check could just be based upon play.
In any case, this would level the playing field a little as far as local vs.
visitor BB.
I know that several properties already do something like this. I have heard
of Harrah's (different locations) doing it. When I played heavily at MGM, I
would receive four $500+ mailings each year, each good for one month (I'm local,
but I assume visitors got them too?). I'm sure there are others, but I don't
know of a casino that caters to both locals and visitors, like the Palms, that
sends multiple small checks to locals AND sends one bigger check to visitors.
Seems to me like a good way to get visitors to come back!
