Local Comp policies

Has anyone figured out MGM comps? They seem to do the 'now you see it, now you don't' policy.

The only thing I can figure out is that they pre penalize you for playing. If I have $80 in comps on Tuesday after I finish play, I can get a comp for $80. If I come back on Wednesday, it will be about half that available. And I play for 10 minutes on Wednesday and then decide to get a comp, I might not have anything available.

MGM has taken the worst aspects of Harrah's and Greektown's comp policy and created their own monster.

The only advice I can give is take ( and use) your comps at the start of the day. There have been people who went to the booth, got a comp for 2 buffets, went and played and then when they go to the buffet, the cashier tells them nothing is available.

Either MGM has the worst IT structure known to man or they purposely make comp redeption confusing and impossible to track so they give away less. I vote option B.

If any of the MGM suits monitor this board, could please explain your comp policy in 67,000 words or less?

If MGM wants to see how to run a comp program, go over to Motor City. I ran my comp balance down to $0.18. I didn't play for 6 months, came back, ran my card through the kiosk and guess what my comp balance was? Yup, $0.18. Why is something like that so hard for MGM to do? And this MGM musical chairs at the kiosk for how much of a ( phantom) comp balance you have? What the heck is that? Why do they make you guess what your imaginary comp balance is? Your choices are $10, $26, $50, $80 or $110 so if you don't know, you take a guess. If that is wrong you take another guess. They should just dangle a carrot in front of your nose. I could make a comment about 'Touch the Lion' but it is the Christmas season.

MGM's comp policy is obfuscating and confusing. I see no reason to give them a penny's worth of play unless your game is $1 PKM and you are hitting that play hard.

Motor City and (especially) Greektown are way better for comps. But you knew this already.

I think Greektown improved their comp policy after taking a bashing from this board. We have offered them numerous suggestions over the years and they have actually implemented some of them.

I think MGM is making too much money right now to care what their customers think. They are cultivating the $14 martini crowd who doesn't care too much about comps.

Guys,

I usually only use my food comps at MGM at Breeze. I really like their grilled, Black Angus Beef burgers. I tend to eat too much at the buffet anyway.

After walking out with $3,000 last month (two royals, one P'E, one DDB) at MGM, I have not been able to win anything playing Pick'Em since. I can't seem to stay even for very long. My last three times I've lost $300, $300, and $300.

I don't expect to win every time, but I do, playing mostly computer perfect, except to last a little longer with the 1200 credits I put in the machine. I seem to stay even for a short while, then it's almost like somene throws a switch and I go right through my credits in a short time. We gamblers are a suspicious bunch and always suspect the casinos of something devious.

I still play at Greektown occasionally. My last two trips Ive managed to hit the 4 deuces twice playing NSUD, but then lost the money at the progressive bar playing 9/6 JB trying to hit a $4,500 or higher royal. I've hit 2 royals at that bar over the years and hope to hit another one there sometine.

Still haven't found a publisher for my three poker-related books as yet. Tough nut to crack. If your name isn't Doyal Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, or David Negreanu, you're poop out of luck. I still haven't given up though, I've got the rest of my life to keep tweaking them and sending out queries and proposals every now and then.

Gotta go, good luck guys,

Terrence "VP Pappy" Murphy

About 2 months ago, while I was up at the player's club at MGM, another couple were next to me, and asking for a food comp, or at least asking the person working the desk, if they had enough comps on their card to like eat the buffet for 2 people or have a nice dinner as they had just gotten there and planned on eating before the night was over. The girl working specifically told them to EAT before you start to play today, because "you'll be better off in your total comps then...." I thought that was kind of a strange response but I guess that must be true there now. It sure is a wacky system for sure of trying to "guess" what you have on your account there. But as long as you remain in limbo about your comps and they keep you guessing as you never really have an exact total on hand to confirm so if anything goes below that, how are you ever going to know about it then ? I guess what you don't know, you can't really bitch about it being gone later on then.... I'm sure that saves the casino $'s from people losing their comps there and just not knowing about it, and settling to pay then for a meal.

Seems like a bad way to do business, but we continue to go back, so I guess we just accept that practice then, because I go back too !
