Local casino update.

I haven’t seen any posts in a while so I’ll give my update on the local front.

Greektown:

On Wednesdays, if you are 55+, you get half off at the Greektown restaurants ( including Prism, the steak house) if you pay with comps. All you need to do is print out a slip from the kiosk, no play required. The food at Prism is good enough that I would pay retail for it ( my highest praise). We ate there a couple months ago and everything we had was very, very good. You can also go to Bistro 555 and get the American Kobe burger for $7.50 using your comps. $15 is the right price for that burger and $7.50 on comps is a steal. Also, you can get half off the happy hour menu in the bar area. Another great play.

Greektown still doesn’t know how to count in their parking garage. As an engineer, I fail to see what is so difficult about counting the cars that enter and exit. The number displayed isn’t even close. I’ve parked on the 5th floor where the counter said 43 and I had to wait for someone to pull out the get that last space. They should just turn the signs off or say “the number you read is +/- 50”.

Video poker room with the 16/10 deuces got re arranged but all the machines are there. I wish greektown would have spend less money on cell phone chargers and smart phone apps and spent the money on a better slot club tracking system and some maintenance on the machines.

Motor City:

The food at Motor City was also a pleasant suprise. The lodge diner has good basic food and I dare a single diner to finish the nachos platter. I talked to the manager and it used to be $8 ( now $12). It should be $15. Easily enough for 2. The rest of the food is good as well. Nothing earth shattering ( except the portion size) but just what you need when you are hungry and don’t want to spend a fortune.

Be careful in the parking structure. People drive like they are the only one in the structure. Be extra careful.

Nothing really worth playing on the video poker front.

MGM:

The worst parking structure of the bunch. People on the first floor either dropping people off or waiting for a spot slows everything down. I don’t park on the first floor anymore. A couple weeks ago , I was leaving at 5 PM and it took me 20 minutes to get out of the structure.

Nothing worth playing except a 98.4% PE game. I play a little bit for kicks and on Wednesdays they were running a promo where you get $10 for earning 100 points. Makes it about break even plus you get a little bit in mailers.
