"I know people who spend every free momentplaying, watching, reading about and obsessing on golf. Are they addicts?"
I'm not sure, but I spend an awful lot of time working on old muscle cars. In
fact, it's a true addiction with me. I can't wait to get a part in the mail or
at the store. The point is, video poker can and has ruined a whole lot of
people. One example is your LV Detective. Another is that vp math genius whose
name escapes me right now. We seldom talk about it here, and we seldom read
about it in the LVRJ unless it's a famous name. Golf, etc. ruins no one UNLESS
there's betting involved. Being entertained by racing horses means nothing
UNLESS there's betting involved. Etc. etc.
Do I really hate LV? Well, I know of nowhere else where I can stay at the
world's best hotel resorts, see the greatest shows on this planet, and dine at
the best selection of restaurants in any city anywhere. No, I don't hate it.
But I don't really like it either. Not the city itself, but what it does to a
good portion of people there. Casinos couldn't care less about us, yet we act
like they do. Your host keeps his or her job only because their foremost work
is to get as much of your money as they can without concern as to the
consequences you'll face. They'll give you a smile, a laugh, then check your
play while you're on the floor--hoping for a big loser today. I won't stop
coming to LV because I have a specific mission. But I do wish people wouldn't
drive around as if they were so very angry at something that just recently
happened.
