SO SO true. And it can be edited for length, and the meaning changed by the omission of some of the original information.

I came across a very glaring typo yesterday at Walmart that was right

elaborate display setup for a new book that was released. I took
glance and said "would you look at that, they spelled Harry Porter's
name completely wrong". I didn't get a chance to look at the book
but it did look rather thick, which makes sense we all know how
detailed Harry is. It must surely be some sort of VP book. I'm
guessing it will sell rather well being so prominently displayed.

I thought it was funny, Mark, but perhaps not for the same reason you
did. You complained about a typo (actually a misspelling) at Walmart,
apparently not realizing that the store name is spelled either Wal-Mart
or Wal*Mart, but NOT Walmart. Making an orthographic error while
complaining about the same thing is rather humorous.

Irony can be so ironical.

So true, and especially clever to say "progressive" in a video poker
forum rather than "possessive". I've particularly enjoyed the responses
(like TC's and Chandler's) where the poster has intentionally added an
misspelling.

For those seriously worried about being criticized for every typo in
every post, don't be. Typos happen around here all of the time and are
largely ignored. The one about Wal-Mart struck me as humorous. (I had
just looked up the spelling a few days ealier preparing this week's
Player's Edge report). And since Mark meant the entire thread in jest,
there's a good chance he wasn't particularly devastated by the
correction.

My hats off to Cogno, though. His tongue-in-cheek "highly inaccurate"
post was actually teasing/dissing/criticizing me, not Linda. He was
drawing a parallel to the earlier thread about the accuracy of her
strategies. Presumably he thought an earlier "highly inaccurate" comment
by me was amusing, so he riffed on it.

The humorous part of this, to me, were the reactions by the three people
who regularly criticize almost any post I make (Dick, Curtis, and Luke).
Since they felt Cogno was criticizing Linda similar to the way I did,
each of them made at least two posts criticizing Cogno. Presumably they
reasoned that anyone taking Dancer's side of an argument HAS to be
wrong. So like Pavlov's canine, they barked.

If they had been smart enough to realize that Cogno was dissing me
rather than Linda, they would have been praising him, not criticizing
him. But they weren't, so they didn't.

vpFae hinted at this. Harry understood. Certain others didn't. My
congratulations to Cogno for baffling lots of people here and sending
lots of us, including me, to the dictionary to look up "litotes." Had he
not done that, I wouldn't have used "orthographic" in another attempt to
send folks Webster's way.

The humerous isn't the funny bone? Noticed after post was sent and
totally unintentional, I assure you. The byproduct of stubby fingers,
an imperfect brain and no spell check feature. Any humor was
unintentional, therefore no disclaimer was necessary.

If it makes any difference at all, and it doesn't, I suspect Cog's
quip was multidirectional. Great minds will ponder the statement for
ages, I'm sure. I won't.

Bob shouldn't flatter himself that way. He's not as important as
he thinks he is. There have been plenty of posts that Bob has
made, which I have not criticized nor commented on.

There have been other people who have criticized Bob's posts -
not just Dick, Luke, and myself. So, I'm not sure why Bob
singled us out. Speaking only for myself, Bob's presumption
("anyone taking Dancer's side of an argument HAS to be
wrong") is wrong. Personally, I don't keep track of who
sides with whom and it makes no difference to me. What
matters is the issue at hand, not who is on what side.
Bob should re-read my posts about Cogno's statement.
They had absolutely nothing to do with Bob. But, somehow,
in Bob's mind, it's all about him!

What Bob said about the three of us is not only wrong, it's
also a personal attack. It's the same kind of attack that Bob
previously criticized others in this group for doing. Personally,
I don't care whether anyone posts attacks or not. I see nothing
wrong with it. In fact, it helps us all be real instead of phony.

However, what is wrong with Bob's recent personal attack is
his blatant hypocrasy - by doing the same thing that he
complained about others doing. It's Bob's hypocracy that
bothers me, not the attack.

Another thing that bothers me is when I get private emails from
members of this group, agreeing with my posts and telling me
their thoughts on the subjects. Although it's nice to know that
someone is 'on my side' - I'd much rather these messages get
posted to the entire group, not just to me. If that would happen,
maybe Bob could add a few more names to his list of people
who, "regularly criticize almost any post" that he makes.

Mr. Dancer,

In your recent post, you said (about me) that I felt Cogno was
criticizing Linda similar to the way you did. Yes, I made two
posts in the 'Cogno - Highly Inaccurate' thread. (And, BTW,
I did not post any messages in the 'Typos' thread.) And, yes,
I felt Cogno was criticizing Linda. (So did others.) But, it never
even crossed my mind that Cogno's statement had anything
to do with you in any way.

The following are quotes from my two posts in the 'Cogno -
Highly Inaccurate' thread. I said:
"I don't find anything humorous about Cogno's post."
~and~
"I think Cogno's only reason for posting these messages....
is to stir things up around here."

Neither of these have anything to do with you, Mr. Dancer.
I did not see Cogno's statement as taking "Dancer's side of
an argument" (as you presumed in your message). All I said
was that his statement was not funny and it was intended
to cause a stir.

Mr. Dancer, my comments were about Cogno. Not you.
Please don't try to make this look like it's about you. It's not.

Ah, heck. Cogno is one of my favorite authors here, and I've read
enough of his postings that I can follow his intent, most of the time.
His comment was highly hilarious, and immediately clear to me as
(mainly) a backhanded soft tomato toss at Bob Dancer's head, landing
beautifully on the upper left cheek with seeds and juice splattering
all over. At least that's the way I read it.
