Lifes Little Irritations

My wife got 4 Aces/Kicker at DDBP this evening, so we decided to quit
and play a slot a few minutes before going home. In a few minutes a
really huge guy, smoking a cigar, began playing next to us. But he
never sat down, preferring to stand behind his chair. His "modus
operandi" was to act like a classical pianist, playing with great
energy and flourish. The machine and its keys, screen, and handle
were his musical instrument.

When the reels started spinning he banged the buttons with both
hands, shook the machine, banged on the side, etc. I think he even
hit the "cash out" button a time or two. And he pulled the handle,
sometimes slowly, sometimes violently. Sometimes he bet 1 coin or 2
coins, sometimes max coins. After a few minutes he got a fairly good
hit and said, for all to hear, "I knew it would". After a bad spell
he removed his playing card (but didn't cash out) and inserted it in
a machine behind him. He waited a moment, resumed play beside us,
and in a few plays gets another good hit! We finally lost our $5
and quietly left. At that point he was ahead of the game.
