Letter to MS Management
Larry,
The letter is fine, but probably will not do much good, unfortunately.
I also think that it was kind of rude the way he directed you to someone else if
you had any further questions, especially since you've had contact with him
before. But maybe I'm just being overly sensitive - something I'm not normally
accused of.
But I am looking forward to the special August giveaway: to every VP player, one
large jar of Vaseline.

----------------------------------------------------------
As you might recall I have a contact who is in mid management at the Sun .
Below is my letter to him and his reply. The second letter to him is one I
composed but haven't sent . I would like feedback on this letter. Thanks.
Dear......
Thank you for your reply. Subsequent to my e mailing you I have had
confirmation from many players some of whom have already received a letter from
your CEO confirming my statement regarding most decent VP not accumulating
points. My internet group, which discusses Video Poker in New England
essentially Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods , has over 400 members most of whom spend
their playing budget at Mohegan Sun. Basically the feedback is that members
are very upset with these changes and will just use up their points without
playing as there are other options including Foxwoods and Atlantic City.
Mr..... it's not that the casino isn't making money on Video Poker. It's that
management is getting greedy and wants more. During these tough economic times
the Sun should be offering inducements to come through their doors rather than
restrictions.
Sincerely,
Lawrence Feldman

I spent all of monday making an effort to find out why there was no points on my MH card for video poker. There was no straight answers from anyone so I went to the Tribal Commission Office for some answers. There had been no written order received but as of Aug 1st no points will be given on all video poker machines in the upper portion of the 98% an the 99% category. In the future the remaining machines will be put into two groups and lowered but not to the degree that the first group was. I have read your comments and agree with most of them but the best suggestion I received so far is still use your card all the time and you may receive some comps in the mail or from your hostess. (only a guess)
This has been going on in Laughlin,Nv. so it does not surprise me. Lets hope this is the last for awhile.

The only thing that makes me nervous about your letter is that it might raise some red flags for them about how we intend to just use up our points and do our gambling elsewhere. The way things are going, I can just imagine some new rules about how you can only use x amount of points per day and only on days when you have played for a minimum of "x" hours. No telling what these people might come up with next!

It's been awhile since we met. Anyway, I've been out of town and
recently returned to find some distressing news..at least as far as my play
is concerned.
There seems to be quite a bit of downgrades in Video Poker paytables.
This in itself is rather distressing. However, in addition, I received a
communication today from a fellow player that said that starting today
( Aug. 1) most Video Poker would no longer be accumulating points ? Could you
please comment on the veracity of this statement ?As usual thank you for your assistance .
Lawrence Feldman
Mr Feldman,
Thank you for your feedback. To ensure that we can still offer the widest
range of video poker games, and most ways to win we did have to make some
changes. We have not eliminated any of the Video Poker games that we have
traditionally offered at Mohegan Sun. We have moved some games around and
have enhanced our multi-game formats. Please do still use your card as we still track play for promotions and
offers. If you have additional questions please seek out a Executive Host
Shift Manager on your next visit or by phone.Sincerely

The person I know well is totally knowlegable about the subject and is involved in the decision making. Bottom line is they feel they are losing money on these machines with the small hold and pts given for play. The only way this will change is if we don't play the machines and their profit goes down. If they earn more money with the changes they will never go back. Your letter will fall on deaf ears.

Thanks for your efforts to find out....I was wondering if I should pursue the 150 points I need to renew my Sagamore card. Guess not. I live nearby. Don't need the free food rooms, which are getting pretty stale. I love the reserved parking, but obviously I won't be needing that. For a local, possible offers aren't worth any play. We need something to work towards, and the tier score might have enticed me to continue to play, but for nothing, I guess my expected loss with absolutely no possible reward is going to make me seek other forms of entertainment, much as I hate to give up my Mohegan Sun visits!!! It was fun while it lasted.

For those of you who still have an interest in the revenues at Mohegan and Foxwoods.
November slot revenue down at casinos: http://tinyurl.com/759lkjn
Although down, some people are certainly still playing there. Maybe everyone is racing out for free snow shovel offer I recently received. Yup, I’m going to race out there and gamble for hours for that prize.

And I'm going to cancel my free 7 day NCL cruise to Florida & the Bahamas leaving on New Year's Eve so that I can take advantage of the

Atlantic City revenue numbers twice as bad?
http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D9RH6GI81.htm
"...Atlantic City's casinos took in $245.1 million in November, a decline of 6.3 percent from a year ago..."
Funny that the first hit when googled "atlantic city casino revenue; Pennsylvania now exceeding AC revenue. MS owns a PA casino.
Might own one in Palmer MA in 5-10 years.
Saw a Nevada article that claims they are holding their own. Real estate disaster out there. There's investment groups gambling on homes; buying on the cheap; thinking this is the bottom but it's been a loooong time. Not so sure it's a fair bet but am looking at housing on our monthly sojourns. Got to check jet blue prices for January trip
