Least Expensive Vegas To Laughlin followup

Thanks to Graytleegray and rossx for your replies.
Subsequent to my posting I did some internet research:

I'll be in LV for three days. Thought that I'd take a one day trip
to Laughlin. I investigated car rentals and could rent a car at the
Mirage or Bellagio for $35/day incl. taxes. However I can rent a car
at McCarran for three days( Dollar Rent A Car) for a total of $58
incl. taxes. I made a reservation for this. I've never rented a car
at McCarran. Anyone have any opinions/thoughts /advice re: rental, in
particular Dollar Car Rental. BTW Dollar was significantly cheaper
than the other major companies.

Only advice I would give you is to become an Dollar Express Member. You can register
online. That way you avoid having to line up at the regular counter (I've seen huge lines
there) and you also avoid having the salesman trying to make you buy options you don't
ewant or nee.. You just go straight to the Dollar garage, give your confirmation number
and show ID and you're on your way. If you have an Amex card it's even better because
you get a further 10% off.

Cheers,

MO

For Your Info - Just thought I should mention that the car rental

building is not at the airport but down the street so it is easy to get
in and out. B.

Dollar is pretty cheap, and I have had excellent luck with Alamo with
their online specials and Entertainment book coupons. Check
www.carrentals.com, they give the rundown on basic rates without any
discounts. The car rental facility is about a 5 minute ride on a
shuttle to get there, but runs 24 hours. The shuttle buses are easy
to find, right to the left of the baggage claim. Every time I
vacation to Vegas (2-3 times/year) I always rent a car. The rates are
very reasonable (10 days in November coming up for $215 total) and I
like the privacy and flexibility that taxis and buses cannot offer.

For Dollar, try code EMDYD for 10% off on compact or larger.

Once again a grateful thank you to all who responded both on the board
and privately. Further investigation got me a few bucks less from
Enterprise. BTW , pbfisher5, the Dollar code was invalid at McCarran
for the dates I wanted. However thanks for giving it to me.

There were a few bucks to be saved by using Fox or Payless but
since I'm not familiar with them I decided to go with Enterprise.

   Once again thanks !
