There is no "catching up" in most video poker. It's simply that in the
long run a 4 royal head start doesn't amount to much. Basically, in 9 royal
cycles you can expect 9 royals plus or minus 6 95% of the time. In 16 cycles
you can expect 16 royals plus or minus 8 95% of the time. In 25 cycles you
can expect 25 royals plus or minus 10 95% of the time. And so on. As you
can see the "plus or minus" part always increases, however the ratio to the
average decreases.
