Laughlin Updates

Updates from our faithful Laughlin Reporter:

Golden Nugget

I am walking through the listings for Laughlin. Time for a tune-up.

Golden Nugget- all bad news.

MIA-all downgrades so there isn't much hope.

9/6 Jacks

(4)- .25 uprights by change redemption, now 8/5

(9)- slant-tops, down to (4)

Cheetahs bartops- (2) quarter and (2) $1 are now 8/5

···

*****
Rumor is that Andre Carrier, the longtime GNL GM is going to oversee
operations for Landrys, including the downtown Vegas property.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Harrah's

Let's walk down to Harrahs.

They keep moving stuff around.

MIA- the nickel 3/5 play that had 9/5 SDB is gone along with 4 other
unplayable machines next to it.

Five Game Kings replaced them, four of which came out of the High
Limit lounge. Nothing playable.

Move the one Multi-Strike back into H/L.

The H/L listing currently states (6) Jacks $1/2 (2-aqua blue, 4 ruby red).
Well, flush them! The ruby reds moved and were reduced to unplayable.
The two aqua blues disappeared off the floor.

Everything else seems to be intact.

***
Comment- upgrade in the Diamond Lounge food. Not the same old
stuff...now a three day rotation. Weekend mornings now have hot items.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Pioneer

My favorite smoky casino...great service, decent VP, improved rooms,
great BJ, decent food...and River Rick, who actually still waves unlike
Vegas Vic.

Anyway-

A bank (2x3) of the old slant-top IGT Jacks 9/6 has returned to the floor
in Sassy Sue's Saloon. Three quarter and three $1 Jacks. Just like two
years ago, almost.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Miscellaneous

Riverside- to my amazement the August update GKs are still there.

AVI and Ramada Express- no report or lookaround.

Other joints- The Edgewater bartops are in transition, but did not pay
attention yet, it can only be bad news. Flamingo- employees do not
think Harrahs is going to keep them.

Sorry to hear about the GN. I enjoy their tropical setting and
would enjoy playing there...except for the fact there's nothing
worth playing and I never seem to have any luck there.

Pioneer used to have sooooo much single deck BJ 4-5 years
ago with liberal rules. Glad to hear at least there are a couple
more opportunities in VP. I do think mgmt. is more friendlier
now, and trying to turn things around from a near catastrophe.

Regarding Riverside..I'm going down there next month. Hoping
things remain the same with those GK's, where are they located
and what was the August promotion exactly? (I missed that.)

"..Flamingo- employees do not think Harrahs is going to keep
them..." "Them" meaning the machines? The casino itself?
Employees think Harrah's will sell off the Flamingo?

One can only hope this will give the GN a much needed shot in
the arm.

Time has expired to read that link, but I have been following the
story. Keep in mind that the news came from a hearing at the gaming
commission, and the plans are just that- ideas and hopes. There is a
lot of things that can happen before they break ground.

Adding a second tower and bringing in Joe's Crab Shack and Saltgrass
sounds like a good plan, and it is good for Laughlin. I hope it all
works out.

It is interesting how Landrys ended up with the Laughlin property. They
had planned on buying only the GN Las Vegas for $295 million, and they
ended up getting the GN Laughlin for no additional cost. Barrick was
buying the GN Laughlin for $31 million, but that deal fell through, so
the Laughlin property was kind of thrown in on the deal.

Oh, don't try to place a bet on the Houston Texans football games.
Landry owns some of that team, and therefore will be unable to take any
bets on their games.

Hey this "Landry" isn't any relation to Tom Landry that coached
the Dallas Cowboys is it?

At any rate, I've heard such good things about their food I'm really
looking forward to this whole GN thing. As far as I can see it'll be
a step in the right direction.

As for the Riverside's six pack promotion, I only play 25¢ JOB,
and being that the best the Riverside has for 25¢ is 8/5 I'm not
sure it'll be worth chasing the six pack when I go down there next
month. ha
