3/12/04 thru 3/15/04
Edgewater--stayed on 3nite (inc. weekends), $25 bb. Qualified by playing $1k
FPDW in 1/05. Special buffet deal was $400/day, max 3 buffets. Cashier gave
out $3 MP (up to 9/meal are possible, if one is adequately obsequious and
sweet talks the cashier and/or is sufficiently declasse to paw thru the trash
cans at the entrance). Non smokers enjoy the main buffet "concourse" while
smokers are consigned to cramped purgatory by the exit. Plenty of FPDW uprites and
slants. The bank opposite registration looks new (but non-TITO) with pink face
plates. Posters trumpeted Skipstone report that Edgewater had most FPVP on
the river with plenty of FPDW. Riverview Room were great--except for shampoos
which are foil pouches not bottles. "Bilge-water" appellation is a bit unfair.
Colorado belle--Only passed thru on way to Riverpalms. Special deal was
(apparently) an extra 1% cash back per $1k per "trip."
River palms. Played 2K FPDW to see what's proffered in future. For such
play, Kiosk gave one free "breakfast" buffet (which opens at 11 and never serves
breakfast but still honors the technically invalid coupon), free slot tourney,
and 2-one buffet. Quite a few FPDW (uprites and slants) but less than
Edgewater. Offers 2 FPDW in non-smoke section.
So. Cal. travel tip: The Needles/Bullhead city road is 4 lane all the way
and comparatively straight--unlike NV 93/95 over which the spectre of the late
Stan Kunison (and countless others as indicated by roadside crosses) still
hovers. AZ natural wonders include newly-built Sprawl-Mart Supercenter and
3Br/2Bath, large lot subs starting @$90K. I shall return.
