Checking the Laughlin Entertainer online magazine some oldtime favorites are
back.
Riverside is doing their six-pack givaway again through October. Any quarter
or better quad gets you a coupon, which gets you to the slot club which gets
you to the distribution booth.
Beer. pop or water are your choices. It looks like a COD is going on too.
Pioneer has a mix of COD and Triple point/comp days.
River Palms has something again for Mon-Fri. Anyone do the new Friday slot
tourney? Anyone try to catch money in the wind tunnel booth on Tues/Thurs?
But the promo at the Golden Nugget is a version of an old time favorite...the
"Red, White and Blue vehicle giveaway. They have not done this one for a
couple of years...before the Tim & Tom days. They used to give away three
trucks. This version is three Mustangs.
In the olden days you used to need a $100+ hit on VP to get an entry into the
Mon-Fri drawings. This promo meant a drawing ticket was pretty scarce and
just one in the drum was worth it to me. I would play over my head in dollars
on the batop Jacks 9/6 or the Bonus 7/5 3-way progressives (if ripe enough) to
get a ticket since any quad would do it. The Double Double Jackpots were
another option.
Table games players, then and now need to hit a suited $25+ blackjack for a
ticket. Now machine players need a 100 points to earn five drawing tickets.
This still is a significant threshold, but there will be more tickets in the
drum.
Upon last look the quarter based single line VP was counting down from 105.
This is $26.25/point. Other VP, especially Game Kings was worse.
This really is a time consuming promo, since you need to be around from 3-9pm
for the five random drawings. They don't do it on the hours, but you have at
least 45 minutes between drawings, historically.
But they put in 224 envelopes in a separate drum. 222 of them have money
from $100-1000. Two of them have a blue or red car. They draw Mon-Fri for nine
weeks, starting with Sept 5th. So the chance of hitting a car will change
with each drawing.
On Nov 4th, a Saturday, all the tickets go back into a larger drum. They
give away the last two envelopes, then the white car at 9pm. Andre Carrier used
to pull the ticket for the car. But he is busy now running both GNs for
Landrys.
Anyway, it is a rush if you get called with cars up for grabs.
