River Palms: They are currently running a "Hang 10" promotion -- earn
at least 250 points in a day, swipe your card, and get up to ten times
points. For the three days that I was there I ended up with 4x, 3x,
and 3x.
Golden Nugget: They are currently running a Double Point Palooza
through the end of August but be careful -- it does not apply during
weekends (I could not find this on their mailer but it is posted in the
fine print at the slot club and of course shows up if you watch your
points accrue while playing -- which is how I discovered it). Hence
weekends is the time to use a double point coupon. Food is generally
not the best although I've noticed some improvement at Joes Crab Shack
(their Bacon Cheeseburger was great and you will waddle out -- yeah I
know it's a fish place but our few experiences are that non-fish plates
are the best deal).
Edgewater and Colorado Belle: You might want to get in on some of
the "Grand Opening" drawings but as previously reported these two
properties are a VP wasteland for the astute player.
General Observation: Laughlin seems to be drifting to a Vegasized
atmosphere -- catering to the younger crowd including, at least at this
time of year, families with kids. The Pioneer (good grub here) and to
some extent the GN still are favored by the older generatons. I did
not visit the Riverside, Harrahs, Aquarius or Ramada Express (too far
to walk at 110+ degrees) so I will let others comment on these.
