Laughlin Meet

We got home from Las Vegas yesterday, and it was fun to read all the comments
about the Laughlin Meet(s). It was such fun to meet Terry and Chris and
share lunch. Thanks so much for putting this together!! We've known Correna for
15 years, so it was really special to see her in Laughlin and have lunch
together.

Tom and I did well in Laughlin, but couldn't do much at the Orleans in LV.
We each hit deuces once in Laughlin (about 12 hours play each), and winning
$100 in the drawing and collecting bounceback kept us even. At the Orleans we
played NSU for hour after hour after hour. I hit deuces twice, but had several
sessions where I lost $300. When you're down over $1K, hitting deuces doesn't
quite bring you back to where you want to be. We had an offer with $150 in
food credits, so we had some great meals. Met friends from Milwaukee and had
dinner with them on Sunday evening; later that evening saw the Ann Margret
show. All in all, an enjoyable, albeit losing trip.

We'll be back at the River Palms March 14-15. My brother's coming in from
Milwaukee (bringing two friends with him). If anyone's around at that time,
you'll find us at one of the deuces machines!

Wow, look at all the activity on this board lately. I have a few
additional comments on my last trip to Laughlin.

Colorado Belle: The Shooters bar is now closing at midnight on the
weekdays. They are not up and running untill 10AM now. Be sure you
check the progressives at the River Bar. That bar has progessive
plays on RF, SF, and 4 oak on aces. When we were there, the
progressives put the play in positive territory. I did hit for the
aces at this bar, and I also cleared out the progressive aces at the
RP. I always check the RF progressive upstairs at the Mississippi
Lounge, and the Boiler room, but they had both been hit recently.

River Palms: I finally picked up a slot card there. Here are the
freebees I picked up in an afternoon, and evening of play: free t-
shirt, 2 free very nice logo jackets (Thanks Joan and Tom, I got
enough points to get another one, and my daughter loves it), free
dinner buffet, buy one night and get 2nd night free, and free
afternoon cookie. They also have drawings going all the time
(although I did not win), and the card of the day at winners wharf
with good paytable machines can make great playing conditions.

I must warn you though. If you happen to meet up with bluestreak and
he takes you over to Kevin at the Shipwreck bar, it is a set up. They
got me good on a practical joke that had been set up the previous
day. HaHa-good one. I will be interested to see what kind of offers
I will generate from this place with a new card.

Well man, let's tell them the whole story!

Hamstockman (aka Chris) and I (aka Terry) first met up on the Vegas
Watch board, which is a touristy board with alot censorship. We got
together at MSS before the big meet at Four Queens awhile ago. We
have met up in Laughlin twice after that, last week the third time.

HS just bought a new truck and was itching for a trip. I was
scheduled for a weekend comped Harrahs BJ tourney (promo/drawing
thing).

With 48 hours notice we were off for a Weds. meetup.

I started using the phrase "shiny new red truck" in correspondense.
At first I thought I could get multiple casino employees in Laughlin
to use this phrase when I first introduced HS to some of my
favorites...bartenders, cocktailers or front desk people..."OH, the
guy with the shiny new red truck". I would have to set it up each
time. This before the trip, it sort of faded away in my mind.

I was staying at the RP. Chris was coming down to RP Friday morning
so we could hook-up with Joan and Tom. He was finally going to sign-
up for a card at RP, something that I have encouraged. The Mandalays
have taken care of him in the past.

Playing at the Shipwrecked bar Thursday afternoon the thought of
the "shiny new red truck" gag came to me again. I just asked Kevin
to ask Chris about his "SNRT" on Friday, since I knew I would be
showing him around RP. The guy playing next to me started talking
about how new vehicle owners are just totally paranoid. We ran thru
several scenarios for the next twenty minutes and just laughed our
heads off.

First off Kevin, once you get past the obnoxoius laugh, knows how to
run a VP bar. He greets you with a handshake and keeps your beer
full, unlike some clowns down the river.

Friday, after we had lunch with Joan and Tom we ended up at the
Shipwrecked bar. It helped the progressives were growing on the base
Bonus 7/5 game. It took Kevin 15-20 minutes to remember yesterday.
I had to prompt him with, "Chris took me for a ride across the river
to buy gas for his new truck he just drove down." Kevin finally
remembered the jist of it. He walked Chris through the "towed away"
story and dropped the word "shiny". It didn't matter that the truck
was actually parked at CB, panic set in! The clincher was Chris
asked what color it was. Kevin responded quickly with the right
answer! Talk about a whiter shade of pale.

What are friends for anyway!
