Laughlin Meet & Trip Report

Met with Tom and Joan on Saturday for lunch and had a really nice
time catching up. So sorry we missed Hamstock and BS... Tom and
Joan said they had a very nice visit with you two on Friday. Tom
and Joan were amazing... both of them had their names called for the
cash giveaway at RP on Saturday and each walked away with an extra
$100. Very very nice... and always great to see friends win!

We were there on a comped junket from CB. Still have no clue why I
received this offer as I had only played there once in the last 3
years and that was for about an hour on some 25c 10/7DB. The room
was a very long walk from the casino. When we finally got to it...
yuck!!! The carpet and wallpaper had to be 20+ years old. There was
one lowly lamp for light in the entire room. The only good thing
about the room was that it had quite a nice bathroom. Newer, large
shower-stall and loads of counter space with the sink. The mattress
was so bad I could feel springs coming through. Bartender service at
the Manhattan Bar upstairs was great as was the waitress service at
the Boiler Pub. Decided to check out the room at the RP Saturday
am...

RP's rooms were a huge step-up from those at the CB - except that I
had the shower from he**. Everytime you took a shower you had ZERO
control of the temperature. It would cycle between painfully hot and
frigid temps... with about 60 seconds of warm in between... it was
truly horrible. The sink was tiny which never pleases me either. On
the up-side, the room was very bright and cheery and had a patio
door that was just feet from the whirlpool. As for gaming, I saw
lotsa people getting handpays, but alas, it wasn't to be for me. I
was very under 4OAK'd which just killed my bankroll. A very painful
weekend financially. Thank goodness for the great company!

In January it was reported that there were 4 uprights in the middle
of the floor at the EW with 10/7DB and 10/6DDB that had 4oak's
shorted to 239 instead of 250 (supposedly to avoid W2G's at the $5
level). I looked all over several times and could not find these
machines... were they removed or did I miss them?

Lodgestone's site also states that there are FP multi-strike
machines on the main level at RP... could not find those either. Was
really looking forward to trying those this trip.

Returning to Laughlin on another comped junket in April from the
Flamingo (have never even stepped foot in that casino... lol). I'm
anticipating the worst in the rooms at the Flamingo, so I have
arranged a suite at the EW for that trip... anyone ever stay in a
suite at the EW? Hopefully before then, someone will give me a
better idea of where the machines are that I missed.

Thanks to all for the great info... makes these trips so much more
fun!

So you were down in the old south wing. I spent a couple of nights
(wed/thurs) way down on the south end. That shower problem was not
unique to your room. My temperature varied too. No coffee pot too.

The EW just built this new octagon shaped area in the middle of the
casino. One side is open. There are 2 Bonus and 2 Game Kings in
this area with the 239 payoffs. When I looked two more GK were being
installed, but not fired up yet on the backside.

Top floor (west central) four MS and four Spinpoker in a diamond
pattern bank. Against the west wall I think were American Bandstand
slots for reference.

Hamstockman and I left for Laughlin Wednesday morning. We both just
booked this trip a Monday, so the short notice. I ran into Joan and
Tom Sunday morning at RP, heard about the drawing success and missing
out on the $700 top prize. They were on there way to Vegas for three
nights. I was occupied at Harrahs Friday night and Saturday in a BJ
tourney. Next time.

Hi Correna Correna,

On the up-side, the room was very bright and cheery and had a patio door that was just feet from the whirlpool.

Regarding RP, we like the rooms in the tower better than the three story section.

Lodgestone's site also states that there are FP multi-strike machines on the main level at RP... could not find those either. Was really looking forward to trying those this trip.

There are 4 slant-top multi-strike games on the end of the the rows with the 100 plays. They are on the top floor about 3/4 of the way towards the north entrance door if walking from the main entrance. They are closest to the west wall as opposed to the east or river side. They have 10, 25, and 50 cent denominations. Hope this helps.

I'm anticipating the worst in the rooms at the Flamingo, so I have arranged a suite at the EW for that trip... anyone ever stay in a suite at the EW?

We too would like to know what the EW suites in the Sedona Tower are like?

From the Edgewater DataBase page:

(4) $1/$2/$5/$10 (5-K Quads and SF pay 239) 10/7 DB and
10/6 DDB uprights under the "Bonus Frenzy" sign.

Lodgestone's site also states that there are FP multi-strike

From the River Palms DataBase page:

(4) 10c/25c/50c MS (10/7 DB, SA and NSUD) slant-tops on
top floor west/central.

The Edgewater and River Palms machines were there
a couple of weeks ago.
