Laughlin junket notes

My SO and I were there as well, but out of Milwaukee. We arrived on
Sunday. The entire flight was full of Riversiders except for 5 of
us staying at EW. Thanks to info gleaned from the Laughlin group
site, we were aware of the EW special as well. Thanks so much to
the poster as we would have never even been aware of this (we have
stayed at EW before and didn't even know the Sports Bar existed).
We hit those machines hard and although we did see 4oak's, there
weren't enough and we suffered some ugly losses. When we flew out
very early Thurs morning, the rf was just shy of $3500. Most of the
time that we played it, we were the only ones even trying. The few
others in this bar were either not playing at all or just playing
short coin. I lost out on 2 sf shooting for rf's. We had soooo many
near misses (4 to the rf) it was incredible.

We were able to take advantage of the Treasure Chest deal as we
arrived about 4 hours before it ended. Won: 3 t-shirts, 3 $5 cb, 2
holiday jewelry/gift boxes, and a $20 coupon for the Steak Pit
(which we weren't able to use... see below). We did not have to wait
in any lines to redeem our points as they took us immediately in the
VIP room. They had also mailed a coupon for $150 if you accumulated
1500 points in one day (or less $$ for less points). We took
advantage of the full $150 on our 2nd day there.

We also tried for the rf at the bar at CB. That progessive was over
$2100 on Wednesday. Overall, we got an expected amount of 4oak's
everywhere except at Harrah's. If you recall, I was at Harrah's 2
weeks earlier and got "eaten alive" on the $1/$2 DB. Same story this
time. I am way behind expected results at Harrah's Laughlin. The
irony is that I am up for the year at Harrah's EC and Harrah's
Joliet where everything is below 100%.

We really liked being in Laughlin at this slow time of the year.
The big downfall (in our opinion) is the lack of food available
after 8pm. It may be a 24hr town... but not to eat. We tried eating
at the Steak Pit at EW 2 times and were turned away. The first time
we were told they were closing early because it was "bug-night"
(appetizing to know that hey?). The next night we were told they
were closing early because it was slow. Ended up eating at Subway (a
real disappointment when your brain/stomach is looking forward to
fine(r) dining).

Leslie Lough (Host at EW) took great care of us as she did our last
trip. She said that we could bring the $20 gc for the Steak Pit on
our next visit and she will be sure they honor it for us. If they
keep sending the free all-inclusive junkets, we'll keep going. Nice
town with good plays.

Ted, I was very surprised to see this post. I was also on the same
trip, and also was with you at the Edgewater. My wife and I were 2
of the 5 that stayed at the EW. We were the couple that sat in the
back of the shuttle bus, and you sat in the front seat. Yes, I
remember you. Perhaps we should all wear a special hat or
something???

They were running a great VP promotion at the Edgewater. They were
adding an extra $2,000 to the progressive each day in the sportsbar
downstairs. I gave it a good shot, but the Royal Gods were not
shining on me this trip. With a choice of 36 different brews down
there, 8 different NFL games on at the same time, I enjoyed myself
anyway. When I left on Monday the progressive was still not hit from
Sunday, and was at $3400+. The Treasure Chest promotion was a very
good one also, but the lines at the One Club did get long just
before the 10 PM time limit.

Monetary loses are all relative to each individual but there are
other important values in these trips, for we will never break the
casinos with our play. Having a special friend to share the
experiences of these trips, sit beside you while playing, and to
talk to you, help build you back up and help absorb these material
loses mentally, and celebrate victories with. As in life, to know
that your friend will still be next to you even if the shortfalls
are gloomy, is the most important of all. For she has learned a
great deal from this group and I have learned from her and I am
grateful for both for the most part, a lot of this information has
come in handy and hopefully our feedback has been helpful for others
as well.

Oh my, it looks like I was 0 for 2, or 0 for 3 with your SO. My wife
and I must have been playing at the same time as you on Sunday
evening at the sportbar. We really must get a secret wave, or special
hat or something. I was wearing my 49er T-shirt, and was not in a
good mood watching the Chicago Bears run over my 49ers. I finally did
get into the Hickory Pit on Sunday evening. I have heard other
stories about not getting in, so after a turndown earilier, I greased
the palm of the hostess, and told her I would be in the sportsbar. 10
minutes later she came over and said she had a booth for us. We had a
very nice meal, but the place was only half full. What gives here?
The trouble was that after sipping our last glass of wine, I
discovered that I missed the time limit on the Treasure Chest for
Sunday. My Saturday bounty for the treasure chest: 2 $5 cash coupons
(used), 1 buffet coupon (not used), 1 $20 off at hickory pit (used),
and 1 box of ornaments (my wife really likes those). I got in too
late on Friday night to participate on the Treasure Chest for that
day. I also had the 1% coupons you mentioned for both October and
November. We left in such a hurry to catch the plane, that I left
those at home along with RP and Riverside very usuable coupons.
Grrrrrrr. Bluestreak did come by on Sunday afternoon at the sportbar,
and mentioned that you were in town, but I thought he said something
about meeting up at Harrahs. Where was the progressive you were
speaking of at the CB? I believe they now have progressives at all 4
bars in the place. Monday we did spend some time at the Mississippi
Lounge playing the 10/7 DB with the progressive, and had a nice lunch
there also.

I did speak to the head of the sportbar at the EW and he said they
had a regular group lined up each morning at 7 AM when they loaded
the extra $2,000 on the royal. I tried to get in late Friday night,
but all seats were in use. I think by Saturday and Sunday most had
given up, or ran out of funds chasing the royal.

So there was a whole bunch of us in Laughlin at the same time! I ran
into Stockman and the Mrs. Sunday afternoon in that new Sportsbar at
EW. So Correna was staying at EW and not Harrahs! TedChee snuck in
too, on the same plane as Stockman!

I had a $40 bounce burning a hole in my suitcase for RP so I did a
Harrahs two nighter. I hung out at River Palms Sunday night for the
end of the month drawings. We really need a marker to wear, don't
you think.

So I looks like the best game actually in the new EW sportsbar is a
two pair Jokers game at 98.5%? I played the DB 9/6/5 myself over the
8/5 Jacks, for the $2k added royal.

Yep, the $1 Bonus ACE$ was gone upstairs, so I saved $40. But it
also seems the bank of slant-tops with FPDW by Kokopellis has been
sped up.

EW cancelled the $25k BJ tourney next week too.
