I got to L'auberge du Lac (which I think might mean "Lodge on the
Lake") this afternoon for a quick look around. The place is
definitely the finest casino-hotel in Lake Charles; that does not
necessarily mean too much, but this place is pretty nice. Owned by
Pinnacle Entertainment. I didn't go into the hotel, but it is 26
stories with more than 700 rooms. Their website is:
I walked through the buffet and it looked pretty good. Their fine
dining restaurant had not opened for the day when I was there, but
it looked very attractive through the windows--sort of rustic, but
very nice. The casino was packed, and not too smokey. Almost
everyone was playing the shortpay quarter games, generally at five
coins, but a significant amount of short coin also. The BJ game
looked like it might be pretty good. $25-5000 shoe game dealing down
to the last deck. DDAS, Double any two cards, Resplit aces 3 times,
Dealer stands on soft 17, BJ 3:2.

Since the place is brand new, so are the machines. The VP seems to
all be in tito mgmd game king slant tops. Many machines and they all
seem to have the same games and same paytables. I found no full pay
anything below $1. At $1, $2 and $5 there was 9/6 JOB, 16/10 NSUD,
9/6 DDB. There may be other full pay games available, but these are
the ones that I know. The JWKB were not full pay, paying 18 for
quads and 4700 for the Royal. (I get 99.3) There was also TDB, but I
don't think it was full pay either. Someone who plays the game will
have to look at it and report. DB was 9/7. Saw no multi-line games
of any kind.
Slot Club takes $3 for 1 point at VP, and 100 points=$1. (.33)
I don't know how comps work.
