Your reaction to the Elco and surrounding area is relative to where
you're coming from. If you get uncomfortable around the homeless,
pawn shops etc, the Elco will not be your cup of tea. In addition, I
think they use a specialized smoke machine because that place is
worse than one of those airport aquariums. Net; it's a dump in a
dumpy area. If you don't mind a salt of the earth kind of place, go
ahead. If you're only going to save a couple of bucks on food, just
go to another downtown propery. The food is already cheap. About an
hour worth of 0.25 VP will get you a buffet for 2 at the Fremont
casino.
To be balanced it probably is safe to walk from the Fremont street
experience to the Elco, particularly in the day light.
