Last Trip Observations

Just some assorted nuts and bolts:

The Entertainer had the $5 match-play coupon for EW/CB once again. You have
to walk through the slot club, but that is currently painless. They will give
you a promo chip. But the slot clubs handle this differently. It is
amusing. The promo chips are under lock and key at CB, but at EW there just is a
rack sitting out. For Matchplays, "money doesn't play" anymore on table games.
The dealer has to change your fiver into a chip under new Nevada rules.

I found a change counting machine next to the cage at EW. But it is one of
those skim 7% off the top models, like in grocery stores. EW is 100% TITO.
According to the GNL cage the Riverside is the only casino that will take your
pennies and dimes through a casino cage.

The sports/horse book at GNL now has some comfy chairs looking east to three
screens. The traditional long tables now have individual flat screens at each
station for the ponies and dogs. Cocktailers traditionally serve anyone in
this room without any hassle.

Leroys at Trop Express had four chairs/two tables now for a lounge. They
were installing 6 flat screens behind the desk. It will be interesting if they
actually get the feeds for games above the local cable signal.

The CB Boiler Room officially changed hands on August 28th. Six VP stations
on the ends were taken out, but for now 11 Game King bartops remain. The
bartender said Star Consessions is talking a $6 million upgrade to the room to be
completed during the graveyard shift.

Sbarro how is in the Pizza Hut hole at EW. The menu on the wall features
pizza and pasta. Is this an upgrade?

The Pioneer room coffee cups are alot bigger now. They still have the best
tasting room coffee on the river.

The Pioneer did upgrade their Acres slot club software. You now have to use
your PIN to see your comp balance. They did activate the TITO feature for
about 300 machines. Nothing is playable on these though, so clunking coins are
the norm on the good VP. The boothling stated cashback is now 320 points=$1,
instead of 300. She blamed it on the Nevada Gaming Commission making them do
it.

No one plays with their watercraft toys on the river anymore.

Finally, I just got back from my local Safeway store. The bread gal and I
somehow got to talking about Laughlin. She stayed at Harrahs last weekend. But
her weekend highlight was catching a 6lb/22 inch Rainbow Trout above the
Davis Dam in Lake Mohave using a worm and sinker set-up.
