Las Vegas Golden Nugget Stay Away

I had asked for help on finding the best video poker plays at Golden Nugget Las Vegas.
I hoped someone would point me to a dollar play in the 98-99% range.
To my surprise every private response said it's a really nice hotel, so stay there, but GAMBLE somewhere else!

Once again this does demonstrate why casinos are wise to offer some decent Video Poker.
Most of us that visit Las Vegas often are asked for recommendations all the time.
If GN offered even 8/5 bonus at the dollar level my guess is personal recommendations would be positive.
It is a great place. Let's hope the next business cycle, or the next management change brings an improvement.
When asked by friends where they should play when they visit downtown I always say Four Queens.
That's my thank you for decent VP and Black Jack. Hey, Maybe Binion's will be the place to play by mid-summer.

Subject: [vpFREE] Las Vegas Golden Nugget help

Friends insist we stay at Golden Nugget. Once a favorite of mine, now why bother.
If I can't steer them elsewhere, what should I play.
I can't bankroll $5 video poker.
What 's the best bad Video Poker they have? They did have 9/5 Jacks at the dollar level. That's a slow bleed.
Is that still there, anything better? Any help would be appreciated. ThanKs.

I couldn't agree more.

The first time we stayed downtown we stayed at the Golden Nugget and
we intended to play there. After the first day, we ended up doing
our downtown gambling at the Four Queens.

The second trip we stayed at the Four Queens and had a great time.
It's not as elegant as the Golden Nugget but the rooms were clean,
bright, and had a flat panel TV, not that watched any TV. I can't
say how much the rooms cost because they were part of a Southwest
Airlines package; however, for the price of that package, we couldn't
afford to stay home.

We're going again in January and the Four Queens and Binions are
going to be the first two places we check.
