Las Vegas Car Rental Car Advice/ Codes

I will be flying to Vegas later this month for a week-long stay. We
will rent a car to take a sidetrip to Laughlin and surrounding
attractions.

I think I could buy a car for the amount a couple of the rental
agencies want to charge for one week.

I read here a few months ago that there are codes that one could use
to get a better deal. Are there rental agencies that not based at the
airport? Does anyone have advice for a frugal driver on the best
rental company to use?

We always use Alamo when in Vegas they have reasonable rates. If you
have an AMEX card you get a discount plus if you use the car rental
insurance that Amex offers about $25 per rental you do not need
collision damage insurance. This may also be covered with you personal
car insuranse certainly pays to check. Do not take the fuel option they
offer take the car back with a full tank. Good luck.

My brother just booked a mid size car on Hot Wire from
12/1 -1/1 for $17 a day. After you pay for the
reservation, they show you the rental co. It turned
out to be Hertz.

As the frugal driver, my wife and I consistantly get cars at airport
through priceline for $12 a day. Yes, they're compacts. I've always
tried to use codes, and never found them to be a better deal. I've
always tried to rent off airport to avoid the 50% tax, but the off
site agencies just jack up the prices.

I was there the 19-26 of October. Went through Hotwire and paid 188

after taxes with Avis. The rental car companies are now outside the
airport. There are shuttle buses that take you to the main rental
building. Give yourself additional time when returning the car. It is
not the short drive if you were staying on the strip.

Our two cents: Have shopped almost all of them, best we always find is Airport Enterprise for a one week rental…they will always upgrade at no cost and we usually recieve an almost new vehicle with unlimited mileage…we now always book with Airport Enterprise.

I vouch for priceline.com also for rental cars as a better alternative
than discount codes. You can specify what size car, and then put in a
pretty low bid (about 1/2-3/4 of the going rate) and usually that works
well.
