I received an offer for a free flight/hotel to New Orleans and one to
Tunica. A kind member of this group was nice enough to warn me of the
La. 6% tax. Is there also a tax in Miss.?

La. and Miss. State Tax
6% refundable in LA, 3% non-refundable (but a below the line deduction
on your Federal return, I believe) in MS.
