Kudos to MS

You were quite fortunate. Most supervisors would not have made this

call. If I was the supervisor on scene I would have asked if this was
your first hand since you sat down. If not I would not have honored
your claim. Players should reasonably expect machines to be in proper
working order, but if they continue to play knowing that something is
wrong then they forfeit any right to make a claim based on that
problem. I've had plenty of problems with the bartops, but in each
instance stopped play on the very first hand and summoned a
supervisor. I now check every button before starting play. MS went
way beyond reasonable expectation in cutting you this break. I
wouldn't count on receiving breaks like this in the future, be it at

MS or anywhere else.

I realize that I was very fortunate, that's why I wrote the post.
You needn't chastise me... I said it was MY error. On the way home,
I realized that they paid me the entire $800... instead of $780
($800 - the $20 I had already received for the 4OAK). I was happy to
have a good story to share is all. Seems like most of the news is
bad these days. I'd be thrilled for you if you had something good to
share as well.

I didn't mean to "chastise". I've witnessed on several occasions
players sitting down at a bartop machine, noticing a problem that
affects play (like sticking buttons), but then rather than moving to a
different machine they continue to play on that machine. This was at a
time when there were plenty of other machines available. I can't
imagine why they would continue to play on a machine that exhibits
some sort of problem. Perhaps they think they can keep the problem in
their pocket as a trump card when they need it for a near miss event,
but this has little chance of success if you encounter a supervisor
who isn't so forgiving. I suspect what happened to you is what
happened to me on several occasions: I was eager to play, sat down at
an in-service machine, sampled some of the buttons and erroneously
concluded it was ok. Then during the course of play I noticed that one
of the buttons I didn't check can stick intermittently. Fortunately I
had no incidents arising from this, but it taught me to check all the
buttons on a bartop machine. It shouldn't be neccessary to do this so
MS has to cut players some slack. Perhaps I should follow up with MS
on the issue of placing bartops out-of-service. I've witnessed slot
tech A take a machine out of service then a half hour later another
tech who was working on a different machine notices the out of service
machine and puts it back in service without correcting the problem!
Clearly MS can improve its performance with regards to the condition
of the bartop machines.
