Kudos to MS

I played at MS, Trump, Harrah's EC, and the Empress this weekend.
While playing at Don & Mike's on Sunday afternoon, I made a serious
error on DBDW. On one hand I was dealt two 2's and an A (the other
two cards were junk) and neglected to be sure all three had "held."
I am usually careful to do this in D&M's because of the stickiness
of so many buttons from sloppy eating/drinking patrons. Well, only
the 2's held, the A dropped. My luck, 2 more A's popped up and I got
20 credits instead of the 800 I would have received for 5 Aces. I
sat there staring at the machine... in disbelief. Decided to have
the bartender call for help. I was very patient and nice to both the
slot tech and supervisor. Ultimately, the supervisor agreed to pay
me the $800. I really did not think she would do this, but felt I
had to try. I have only been playing at MS for about the last 6
weeks or so (I have been a Joliet regular for many years)... but
this incident puts MS high on my list.

This was also my first venture into DBDW. I would love to give OEJ a
shot, but have no clue how the game is played and to my knowledge,
there is no software available to learn. I did practice DBDW at home
for about 2 hours and also took a strategy cards with me (which I
referred to often). This was a lucky session as besides hitting
those 5 Aces, I hit four 2's, many WRF's, and many other 5 OAK's (6
of the 250 variety as I recall). I finally had to quit because I was
soooo cold in there. I wish so much they would do something about
the frigid temps in that bar. Each time I've played there I've
wondered if anyone from this group has been sitting near me : )

You were quite fortunate. Most supervisors would not have made this
call. If I was the supervisor on scene I would have asked if this was
your first hand since you sat down. If not I would not have honored
your claim. Players should reasonably expect machines to be in proper
working order, but if they continue to play knowing that something is
wrong then they forfeit any right to make a claim based on that
problem. I've had plenty of problems with the bartops, but in each
instance stopped play on the very first hand and summoned a
supervisor. I now check every button before starting play. MS went way
beyond reasonable expectation in cutting you this break. I wouldn't
count on receiving breaks like this in the future, be it at MS or
anywhere else.

Not me. MS has yet to provide a satisfactory explanation for bizzarre
bartop behavior. Over the last 2 months I've noticed that when I
switch bartops the machine that I'm about to play on sometimes
displays the message "System Initializing - Please Wait". MS has no
idea why this is occuring and is researching the issue with IGT. You
don't have to be paranoid to be perturbed by such machine behavior.
That's in addition to the fact that I'm now entering the 5th cycle of
a rather lengthy Royal drought. When MS provides satisfactory
explanations you may see me up there again, but until then I'm
limiting myself to quarter play.
