Kids being left alone by thier parents has been observed on several
occassions. I makes me wonder about the parents. In particular
since the kids were young under 10 years of age. Security in both
occassions were keeping a eye on them but still that is very
dangerous to the kids. Who knows what will alk through the door of a
casino. The kids would be an easy target for the wrong person.

This case was real sad. It was this murder that led some Atlantic City casinos to crack down on unattended children. It used to be real common to see 9- and 10-year-old kids sleeping at the casino entrance late at night. These days, the unattended kids are a little older, and I don't see them so late at night.
It's time to expand spay-neuter programs for dogs and cats to people who treat their kids like this.

Why not walk straight into the casino and call Social Services to
report the situation? Is this treatment of children not a possible
form of abuse? Apparently security won't make that kind of phone
call, but instead search for parents. If I see something like what
has been described, I'll be certain to report it to an outside
agency beyond the casino's authority.

It's my understanding that in most states if the child involved is under 14, 12 in some states, it's considered "child endangerment". Heck, in California if you leave a child unattended in an auto you be charged with child endangerment. Let alone for hours in a casino while a child wanders aimlessly.

I am shocked that security would let this go on. If the kids are on the
casino property,
then the casino is almost certainly liable if they are harmed.. Maybe in
NV the casino
friendly courts would protect the casinos, but anywhere else I think the
potential damages
could be huge.

I think this is why the casinos are cracking down on unattended children (but not hard enough), at least in AC. If a kid gets killed or molested, a non-custodial parent could sue the casino as well as his/her ex.
In the Primm, Nev. case, after the girl was killed, her father reportedly told casino execs that if they gave him $100 and a six-pack for the drive back to LA, he wouldn't sue them. If that's true, he's a real low-life. Last I read, the state was considering charging the bozo with child neglect. Anyone know if they followed through?
I just do a slow burn every time I see an unattended child. A lot of times, I see mom and/or grandma hanging with the kids while daddy gambles. It's legal and the kids are safe, but they're usually bored out of their minds. And 30 years from now, the parents will wonder why their grown children want nothing to do with them.

I have a hard time faulting the casinos. Kids have
parents for a reason. Casinos aren't babysitters. They
don't fill that function.
But I have seen child neglect. Lots of young teen
sleeping at the tables in the food court. Pitiful.
Makes me appreciate my parent every time I see it.

Just an example.... We were at Texas Station on Christmas night. There
were lots of kids at Kids Quest (or whatever they call it). John was
wondering who would go gambling on Christmas and leave their kids in a place
like that. I was thinking that the kids were probably having more fun than
if they were staying at home, but I still don't think it's much of a way to
raise kids.
