The above value statement does not have anything to do with perfect
strategy.
Perhaps you have trouble reading simple English. Or are you just playing
devil's advocate?

willing to give up this much just to improve your chances of hitting the quad, you
are EXTREMELY shortsighted! And you are playing the wrong game as well! Playing
conservatively at TDB is an oxymoron!!"

By quoting me out of context, you are being deliberately obtuse. By
"conservatively," I meant trying to maximize your chances for the quad with no
consideration for the best EV play. This should have been clear from context.
Personally, I ALWAYS play each hand as "perfectly" as my knowledge allows, which for
me is to maximize the EV of each hand. Deliberately making a $21 (or $14)
mistake is completely unthinkable to someone who is serious about video poker.
Perhaps that does not describe you?

I find your "specialized goal" scenarios (goals other than max EV) of limited
interest, and mostly farfetched, at least for VP players who have a clue. My
personal opinion. If you would like to behave like a rank amateur, go right
ahead--and please do it on the machines I play! Should make them last that much
longer!

Brian

PS: This does NOT mean that I don't greatly enjoy Steve Jacob's posts! He is
a breath of fresh air, smart, knowledgeable, and I find his "outside the box"
scenarios informative and fascinating!

I hope you won't accuse me of quoting you out of context. Sometimes I
choose just a phrase or a paragraph in my reply to emphasize a point.
This in no way affects negatively the person addressed, since any
reader can go fetch and read the entire message referred to, if
interested. We have been encouraged to save space.

If dropping the kicker in three aces with a kicker in TDB is behaving
like a rank amateur, then I am behaving that way because that is what
I do in TDB, a game I don't play much. I explained I play that hand
that way in order to increase the probability of winning something I
consider sufficient for my short excursion to that machine.

I don't know what machines you play, and I don't see how my play will
make them last longer for you, but I'm always happy to do people
favors even if accidentally.

Sorry if you don't like my play or my posts.

Peace.
