Keeping Your $$ Safe

Corenna. Sounds like a good plan, but why wouldn't using an ATM card
be easier still? Dick McK.

As Elliott pointed out, there is a fee to use an ATM. Also, should
you be a winner, you would be stuck carrying the cash or making a
cash deposit at an ATM (which I do not feel terribly safe doing).

More importantly, my maximum ATM withdrawl for a 24 hour period is
$240. My bank will make no exceptions to this rule - and I am
actually glad about that - it ensures me that in the event my card
would be stolen and someone, somehow found out my pin number, they
could never get more than that $240. As for me, if I have a lousy
start, I could easily lose $240 in 15 minutes... and would be stuck
waiting 23 hours and 45 minutes to make my next withdrawl. If I
weren't traveling alone, that might not be a bad thing : )

If you use WF free checking account and your ATM at any of the 83 WF
branches in southern Nevada there is no ATM fee.
your maximum ATM withdrawl can be set as high a 1000 per day. Plus
you can withdraw any or all of your fund from any one of the 60 some
odd Branches. which there are dozens of within a few miles of the
strip.

If your card is stolen and so is your pin number you are not libel
for those funds obtained unlawfully. if you have a branch within
walking distance of your casino home you could get them to reimburse
you with in a buisness day.

Ok lets see;
free checking , free savings, free ATM, free consumer protection,
1000 per day withdrawl limit. deposit forms for amounts over 10,000
only. conveniance of full service branch banking with in a few miles
of the strip and most off strip casinos, literally dozens of ATM
around town in shopping and buisness centers.

Im not saying you have to have a long term banking relationship
with WF. But you can take advantage of their free checking and free
savings and free ATMs when you are here in the Las Vegas Valley.

Hmmm. looks like a real tough decision to me.

This is what I do . Plus I earn interest on the combined balance of
my portfolio 1.17% and gold advantage accounts .73%. A dollar or
even a well funded $.25 VP bankroll will easily qualify for one of
these. Its a +ev play as well

If you have one of these cashiers checks, money orders, and single
user travelers checks are also free.

Depositing cash in an ATM is definitely not a good idea.

I have a friend who was fortunate enough to hit 2 $1 royals in a
single day, and managed to take a good part of it home with her. She
was nervous holding that much cash overnight and deposited over $4000
in the ATM at her local branch (it was a Sunday night).

When she got her next bank statement, the statement indicated only
$2000 had been deposited. She called the bank manager to try to
clear up the misunderstanding and was treated as if she were a liar
and potential thief. The manager was condescending and wouldn't
believe my friend's story.

My friend has a very responsible job and didn't want to advertise the
fact that she gambles in casinos, so she didn't pursue the issue past
talking to the bank officials. She was too embarrassed to involve
the authorities.

Someone at her bank took advantage of her and she had (in her mind)
no recourse.

I am curious if any other people have any stories that relate to this
one.

Banks typically have ATM envelopes opened by two employees who are watching each other and being watched by security cameras, so this scenario seems unlikely.

That being said, I'd be hesitant to deposit more than $500-$1000 cash through an ATM, particularly in a branch where I'm not known.
