Keeping it non-personal

The applicable rule, if you need one, was the "no negative personal
comments" rule. All of our exchanges were done in the context of not
making any negative personal comments. He was told (for the third
time) that he certainly could respond to a negative situation, but to
keep it non-personal.

I asked the question because, of the tens-of-thousands of posts, I
estimate that more than half include personal comments (of one kind or
another). My question was regarding the vpFREE administrator's comment
(to Paymar) "Of course you are/were allowed to respond, if you keep it
non-personal ..."

Later, the vpFREE administrator said (to me), "There isn't a 'keep it
non-personal' rule."

So, now I am confused.

Dan Paymar was asked to "....keep it non-personal...." when there is
no such rule.
