KC Newbie

My wife and I are considering a visit to the KC casinos in a couple of
weeks. Any recommendations for the best/worst and which have full pay
VP? My wife likes the slots. Which have the best rep for loose slots?
Which have the best deals for rooms? Thanks.

I posted this message earlier but half the time my messages don't make
it to the group. Will try again.

As a local, I don't have any information on room deals (except they
send us
offers for free rooms each month). But here's what I know.

Argosy is building a hotel but it is not complete yet and they only have
full pay VP in dollar 3-play -- two machines in the High Limit area,
Job and
Bonus. Very nice casino, though, and the buffet is probably the best in
town. There is a Super 8 or Comfort Inn or something similar across the
street but I think it is a dump.

Harrah's hotel should be in great shape, they recently built a new
tower and
renovated the old tower. They have 9/6 JoB in .25, .50, $1.00, $2.00 and
Pick'Em in the same machines. Also some other Pick'Em in .25, .50,
and $1.
They have 9/6 JoB Progressives in $5. Comps are tight and this
Harrah's is
really stingy with Bonus points.

Ameristar has a decent hotel, best comps by far, but almost no full
pay VP.
All they have left are Pick'Em in .25 and $1. We were there
yesterday and
they had removed all the machines from the High Limit area. Don't
know if
they just moved them or they are gone. Doesn't matter, there were no
full
pay among them anyway. Excellent steak house, good Italian, fair buffet,
good brew pub. Not a bad choice, especially if you like to play Pick'Em.

Isle of Capri lays claim to the loosest slots by a small fraction. They
don't have a hotel, none close by, but do have some full pay VP machines.
One of the few places you can find full pay All American but only in 25
cent. They also have some 9/6 Job in .50 and $1. Comps are really tight.

Guess I would have to recommend Harrah's. Good restaurants, buffet,
night
club, etc. If you have a Total Rewards card from another property your
points will be good here and should get you a casino rate for a room.

Good luck and give us a report on your trip.
